You have also won about 5 wooden spoons and Adelaide has won none so by your logic that makes us better than you does it?

And you have won all of them while Adelaide has been in the competition, how many premierships have you won while Adelaide has been in the AFL? Is it 1?
And they wouldnt have won that one of it wasnt for Kernahan and Bradley.

So tell me how a pick at 19 is going to be the difference for Carlton? It wont. If the AFL was serious it would tell them they have to trade their PP for a ready to go player.
Well one way it could make a difference is they could trade it for a ready to go player. Seems a weird question given the rest of your post.

It was pretty simple really.
Any PP should only be granted if it is traded for a player.
The pick by itself wont help Carlton if its taken to the draft.
Carlton dont need picks, they need players.

Agree we need players. I wouldn't have an issue if the AFL put that stipulation on priority picks

Should be worried about your own team, 2nd by a mile last year probably wont make the eight this year and have a lot of older players. Your not going to like it down the rear end of the ladder.

We have some nice picks this year, and unlike SOS Hamish O is a gun at picking talent, and our coaching team knows how to develop our kids. Just look how we turned Betts Career around.

Whereas we have to gaze upwards and dream of reaching the rear end of the ladder...

Imagine the hoo haa if the AFL award Carlton PP #1 (pre draft) plus GCS and Brisbane also got a PP in a super draft (hopefully). Remember 2001 and the following priority picks (which show you really should not trade for a player like Freo did):

2001 1 Luke Hodge Hawthorn, pick traded from Fremantle
2001 2 Luke Ball St Kilda
2001 3 Chris Judd West Coast

2018 equivalent would be Lukosius, Walsh and Rankine (or a King depending on needs), then we all go again.

Good times... might even help those 3 clubs become competitive like it did for Hawks, Saints and WCE... and make the AFL more watchable/competitive.

A PP isnt about making teams into premiership dynasties, its to get them off the bottom of the ladder.

WCE got one flag
STK almost got one flag (draw)
Hawks got Hodge, Roughhead and Ellis each as a PP in first round before they became a dynasty

Not sure one pick will create a dynasty but it could help equalise 3 clubs that have been struggling for a long while (since FA was introduced).

Was a far better player at Adelaide. Carlton didnt think he was worth 500k a year.
Pity your coaching team couldn't teach Menzel how to play. Swings and roundabouts. Some players go to new clubs and improve, some go and turn to s**t. Not always got to do with the coaches, more about whats above the shoulders.
