High five.

Despite thinking that Carlton have exposed themselves as a bunch of no hopers in this game, I do think that Jarrad Waite displayed excellent sportsmanship by seeking out Winderlich and Dempsey after the game for a handshake.

Bizarre thread. Why can't you celebrate your club playing above expectations without resorting to bagging out another ?

I enjoyed the game, thought it was good tough footy from both sides. As much as a disappointment a draw is I thought it was a fitting result.

Your right. It was a fitting result considering we had 20 players and you had 22. If it was even we would of won by 4-5 and were doing so up until our two ACL's began to take effect.

Classy stuf guys, particularly the bolded part.

FWIW, I thought Essendon played their heart out and throroughly deserved to get away with a draw, in what was a pretty good game of footy. Shows that footy is played mostly between the ears, and emotion can carry a club a long way.

Will be interesting to see whether the Dons can match that performance next week. Season in only young. by the way, and the crap about Blues fans dancing in the aisles, you are full of it pal, clearly a game that slipped away given we had the numerical advantage, but hey, never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

As far as the comment about meeting next time (your home game, whatever advantage that gives you), time will tell wont it!

Go Blues!
Take a hike.

We didnt deserve a draw we deserved a win which we were comfortably heading towards until we copped the two acls.

You were lucky to get away with draw.

Muppet.

Nice to see your avatar is back - how long you have to wear the sig for BJ?

Carlton deserve to be bagged mate. Most Essendon fans are very happy with our own effort under the circumstances, but many of them, including myself rightfully thought the game was lost when Dempsey went down.

Any good side, and yes I use the word good deliberately, would have taken the game away from Essendon by simply burning them off come the end of the game. Much as some say it was 21 against 20, not 22, thats utter crap. Carlton had the luxury of bringing its sub on when it pleased.

So are you not fit enough? Not good enough? Don't like it contested? Don't have the heart?

Any one of, or all of the above say that Carlton exposed themselves as a nothing side. And that is the point of the thread - and yes, unashamedly, I enjoy sinking the boot into Carlton.

playing above expectations

I beg your pardon?
My spidey senses also went off.

We played with an emormous amount of heart, but we didn't win, which I think we deserved to.

I can say with 100% honesty that I think we're a better side than Carlton in 2011. I'm annoyed we didn't win, but circumstances out of your control can do that.

I have nothing but absolute contempt for this rabble of an organisation.

I hope they drown, and drown quickly, in their $6.9 million debt.

To see their supporters carrying on in the aisles as if they'd achieved something after the game on Saturday after drawing with a 20 man Essendon was something else altogether...

The rematch, and our home game thankfully, can't come around quick enough.

Geez. for a team whose supporters are predicting a repeat of '93 and winning this years flag, you sure seem happy only getting a draw against lowly old Carlton ???

^^ Great movie, great scene, great actors.

RE: my signature, for the next 3 months unfortunately :(

I'm not gonna bother with this discussion anymore as it can pretty easily escalate into a shitfight and you guys have the right to roast whatever you like on your own board.

One of the worst things was Ratten's comment - "What would you rather be 2 players down or 4 goals up, I'd take the 4 goals up".

Sounds like someone clinging to life as a coach.

At school, Waitey pinged me right on the head from about 40 away as I was eating my sandwich.

I booted the ball over the building, went up to ask if it was him and he was hiding behind his ugly gf at the time.

Absolutely no ticker.

was a good kick though

Oh don't worry, the '93 repeat is going along as planned. Draw with lowly old Carlton had to happen just like in '93. I can see the light.

On a serious note, we were all over them before Winders and Dempsey went down. Shit happens in footy, but those injuries don't happen and we win pretty comfortably.

Carlton prove the legitimacy of this thread with those 2 epic dick moves. Garlett playing on and Simpson forgetting how to kick a footy. Carrazzo saved by an equally pea-hearted friend in yellow. VERY, VERY lucky to get the 2 points.

Carlton are not a bad team, 6th to 8th me thinks, so with 2 key runners down I think we did really well.

The spirit is heartening, and if the umpiring was balanced we may be 4 zip.

All things being equal I believe Essendon are a few goals better than Carlton and Sydney (umpires darlings) and I hope we face them in the finals.

Undermanned Essendon by 11 points over the Pies.

Safe Easter Everyone.......

I think Carlton are slightly improved and I'd put them about 5th or 6th this year. I think we are roughly the same, perhaps a touch better.

Your ideas intrigue me and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.

RIGged.

these two clubs were both down for some years but are roaring back to life.....granted carlton have had more number 1 picks but we have both had a fair amount of early picks each.

Carlton chose to use them on mids
Essendon chose to use them on keys

mids mature faster so carlton got better quicker... but now look where we are.. our keys are stamping themselves on games and we have been able to top up on mids who are joining the party... carlton still have a good mid pack but lack anything forward or back.

who made the right call?

i think the evidence is there for all to see.
