Fogarty just never got off the ground from his 2017 starting point, and that's been shown in his performances this year.

Rankine has gone backwards.

My read of Cal Twomey and a few others is that they are suggesting that Rankine hasn't got his head in the game (onfield and offield) this year. A couple of times Cal has sounded like he wants to say it , but then backs away.

Rankine could be having the kinda bored in between year that a readymade star might have before he hits the go button next year.
His apparent attitude could be a developing worry.
He mightn't have a lot left in him ala a Toumpas.
He might be tankine for a stay in Adelaide Rankine.

Who knows.

For mine, with him, i'll judge how he goes in the biggest games this year. The 2nd half of the Carnival and the run home in the Sanfl.

This weeks AFL Draft wrap with a focus on Xavier O'Halloran: http://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/...e-knightmare-xavier-ohalloran-stars-vic-metro

Assuming we take Lukosius with Pick 1, O'Halloran would be good get with Bulldogs pick, Butters with Adelaide pick.

Sounds like the Vic Metro v Vic country is on foxtel this Sunday

Like him, will be a big bodied mid, tough, great workrate.

There will be some very interesting prospects in the 2nd round

Hopefully Ben S is doing something similar. If not, then he looks vanilla.

The hit-list for this years draft :

1. Jack Lukosius (Woodville-West Torrens)

2. Jackson Hately (Central Districts)

3. Riley Collier-Dawkins (Oakleigh Chargers)

4. Fraser Turner (Clarence)

5. Michael Mummery (NT Thunder)

I know people say we won't trade Pick One, and normally I would agree, but lets say we traded it for picks 6 & 8 as examples. It may well get us Hatley & Collier-Dawkins who could be as good as any mids in the draft. Then a Bailey Smith at 20 and Mummery at 30 would make a massive difference to our list especially on top of getting BSOS and maybe a Gaff an/or Dahlhaus.

I am sure SOS would be weighing up every option

I'm not keen on trading #1 at all and never ever would consider doing it normally.

However, I could understand us trading it but only on the basis that our people genuinely believed that Lukosious wasn't as good as the hype around him or as another poster wrote, "has some Jack Watts about him". I can't see us passing over a player of his ilk given where we are coming from but if they have question marks on him, then that is a completely different proposition.

If that was the case, I'm sure SOS would be driving the hardest of hard bargains to extract something extraordinary out of another club for them to get #1. It would be something like three first round picks (just for arguments sake, let's say it was 6, 9 & 12) plus an upgraded second rounder (we swap seconds thus moving one of our second rounders further higher on the list).

Some may say this would be too high a price for another club to pay but if they genuinely see Luko as the next Nick Riewoldt then they will be made to pay a 200-game price for access to him.

Assuming that this eventuated, it would enable us to pick up three serious grunt mids in the first round plus we would still have two low based second-rounders to get some additional quality mids with.

Whilst we won't know the answer to this conundrum until the trade period, I am confident we won't be squandering #1 this year.

As I said taking all Adelaide picks I think (without checking) something like 7, 14, 21!?!? for pick 1 could be a valid option ….

Yep not sure what will happen but if that was offered be have to be given serious consideration. Be interesting to see how sos handles it

Lets see how much Adelaide needs a good news story shall we? I'm sure SOS would try to exploit everything he could out of Reid.

No way Soapy V, a lad of Lukosius's skills, calibre and 196cm tall is a very rare commodity.
He’d be a real dynamo of a wing or half backline too, not just fabulous roaming forward target.

You are most likely right but if Adelaide are desperate they may offer something we can’t refuse. I don’t think it’s likely but at the moment I would rule it out

Do we want to recruit a wingman or a half back with pick 1. Struggles to take contested marks and double grabs if he gets any body contact. While he is a great prospect, I think he is massively over hyped. His stats in the SAFL don't compare well with Hogan's in the VFL. But new is always better

They will never be able to keep up

I’d love for us not to chase the unicorn (the game changing, undisputed, 10yr, 250 game player, who plays like his 25 from game 1) for 2 top 10 picks. If u haven’t noticed, we are shite and picking kids is big time hit and miss, let’s take 2 & get quality in. If theres one team that should know that getting pick 1 doesn’t mean squat it’s us. Trade it and take to the cleaners whoever wants it
