I absolutely love that trade, and I knew something was up with the McGovern trade giving them that extra second round pick. Think of it this way at the start of next year carlton and Adelaide both start off with 0 points and look at who we have bought in this off season and how decimated with injuries we were last year, and if it doesn't work out , who cares at least we're having a crack, crap sides play it safe good sides have a go. And anyway a top 5 pick guarantees nothing, I'm so sick of getting top 5 picks anyway, the blues need to move on from finishing near the bottom and relying on top draft picks. We'll be trading our first round pick next years anyway. This move to me signifies that carlton are back in contention and I love it.

The point being made was we may have been able to turn our first rounder into a better pick than 19 if we were serious about moving it on. We'll never know if it was an option or not but plenty of fans will be thinking that.

SOS knows better in simple terms in later rounds under 18 it is reminiscent.. you complain we dont have a Patrick dangerfield and when we get an almost like for like you still complain. SOS is the Boss.

From people in the know, how is next year's draft looking? Guessing not as strong as this year. Truth be told, with Stocker's highlights, his highlights look better than Paddy Dow's.

So if Stocker would be rated top 5 in another draft... if next year's draft is weak, this trade is even more genius.

So by my calculations we can now only use picks 69 & 71 (BSOS) then 3 rookies?

Given what we have done I think we will go for some more mature players.

Blakey Fisher Palmer Goddard Bugg Lamb fighting for 4 spots
I'm interested to know if we can draft beyond our open list spots and delist after. Thinking more about it, I'd be surprised if that wasn't one of the changes along with live trading.

Given our extra future third, I'm interested to see if we decide to make a cheeky trade if a player slides into that 30-40 range. Imagine coming away with Bailey Williams!

This is a reserve judgement moment. Haven't said anything negative, already said we have to wait a year to see how this one pans out.

People saying this is an awesome move have no idea if it will be or not. Yet you'll call them positive because of their opinion.

Positivity sounds rather simple minded in that example.
Double Grinch. Or Grinch the Sequel!

With BSOS set to take one of the final two list spots, I sincerely hope Agresta has some sort of hidden gem mature-age small forward up his sleeve (even for the rookie draft).

Now that the midfield has been bolstered nicely, I would seriously love a quality pressure forward. Make it happen SOS and co!

But we needed a future first back in any trade. As in we couldn’t do 1 + future first for 2+3(or 6)

That's true, but who says that sos hasn't got a plan to trade that pick regardless, could package it up with a 2020 first for another gun... Thoughts?

I prefer this easily. Our list is now rebuilt and will develop together. There are no guarantees which ever way but I really like the talent we have brought in. It is top shelf and all are quality people with good skills

Walsh & Stocker. Couldn't be happier

Our midfield is now Cripps Kennedy Dow SOS Setterfield Fisher Walsh & Stocker for the next 8 years plus

Bloody Hell :)

Another great trade/draft period by SOS & Co. BRILLIANT. And it's not over. WOW

I'm excited. Go Blues

Given up on your nephew already lol

His highlights look better than Walsh.

I take it his stats aren't as high.

I get unnaturally excited at highlights that show people delivering left and right foot lace out passes to forwards.
Ave 22.2 disp, 5.6 clearances and 4.5 tackles in second half of year.

I doubt that, but he could have easily gone anywhere from pick 12 onwards given how things came about.

I certainly rate him higher than Jones, Butters, Quaynor, Clark, McHenry, Sturt and Duursma, who will all picked before him. I guess that puts him at 9 to 11 on my board.

Collingwood, the Dogs, Sydney and North are set up in such a way that they've resigned themselves to matching bids.

That means clubs can aggressively bid for them, which is what I feel has happened with Quaynor, and to a lesser extent Thomas. I don't think the Crows would have minded landed Thomas there, but I'd suggest GWS were spoilt for riches.

In my mind, Quaynor is ranked outside my top 20, while Thomas is probably a few picks further back than 8, say 10-13.

Thats closer to where i have them, surprised on Blakey though, clubs let the Swans off the hook.

I really hope we consider some of the rucks available tomorrow with one of our late picks, could really fill a hole on our list as a long term project full-time ruck.

When was this?

Who is the like for like? You can't be meaning Stocker.

If you mean Walsh I've been saying for a long time now don't trade 1 and to take him. Think you're making things up.

Has Cameron’s paperwork been done for wce? If not, would 3 late second round picks (1 this, 2 next) be fair for our future first (was Adelaide).

I have no doubt Adelaide will have a similar or worse season as to last year. The pick I expect will be around 8 (on an unrelated note potential steal, at worst moved 6 spots in draft), and teams looking for superstars, like Gold Coast, Bulldogs, West Coast and Fremantle, could desire to move up in the draft rankings.

Otherwise, Brownless F/S, would be the next best est at third round

Seems to me SOS is just a smart operator. We have got a forward line and a midfield out of this offseason. Bang bang bang. Its his best performance yet. Strategic accumulation of all the pieces.
Spot on B&B.

Five more picks this year...now gives us more flexibility on who we now pick....although would still like another mature big bodied midfielder with the remaining picks....all GREAT pick ups, but need time to develop

I thought the same but now not sure. Cripps Kennedy Dow Fisher Setterfield are now mature enough to play all games. Walsh & Stocker are AFL ready to play most of the season especially with rotations plus we still have Curnow & Murphy.

Stocker will play round 1 2019 - he is super good. Watch him play then talk.
