The reason why I thought we would target mids in the draft (great bold move by the recruiting team with Stocker), is guys like Fisher can now play further outside the contest/spend more time forward. THAT is our XFACTOR, especially if we can get some continuity in Garlett, Pickett, Cuners

But I agree

Yes, I agree, but get the feeling that Ben might float through to the rookie draft
Can’t get to rookie draft can he we automatically take him with our last pick if no one bids. That’s my understanding anyway

What a midfield we've put together for the future.....

Cripper being the general is currently the ripe old age of 23yo....then we have:
Paddy Wow 19yo
Kennedy 21yo
Zac 20yo
Setters 20yo
Samo 20yo
LO'B 19yo
Walsh 18yo
Stocker 18yo

Murph to provide a bit of class in the mid over the next few years, and Ed the 'run with'....but what a young list :):):)

Lang 23 yo
Cuningham . 21 yo
Pickett . 22 yo
Charlie . 21 yo
Williamson 20 yo
Polson 20 yo . ;)

Congratulations on the trade and picking up Stoker, the kid will be a jet. Love that your coaches are backing you guys to rise up the ladder next year. Unlike some, I actually think you may finish above Adelaide next year, meaning you’ll get a pick upgrade AND a very good player in Stoker for free. Congratulations - winners so far for mine.

I am a huge Crows hater

No way do we finish above them next year unless they have a huge implosion, aka a player revolt against the coach. I don't see it.

They should push back into the 8.

We should be aiming for 8-9 wins. So it could be pick 4-6 for 11-13. And we will likely trade it for a ready made player.

I like it.

Note, we got Sam Walsh tonight, he will be a star.

*Passes around metal tin*

If everyone here chips in, maybe we can afford to hire Collective Minds for Adelaide next year.

Free of charge, too. Geez I'm a nice guy.

Guess I'm in the minority but I liked it, largely in having time to hear from all draftees, and I enjoyed the insights - i loved our shock move but don't think I would have cared if it wasn't my team.
No problem with that. I watch election coverage like grand finals.
But I've recently decided to de-Murdoch my life so I wasn't able to see any action. But this place lit up when the Stocker became a Blue.

Also, good on the GC for picking Lukocious and Rankine.

Clearly the standout talent at their picks. Stuff the go-home factor. As soon as GC give in and don't back themselves, it's all over.

Adelaide are a classic mid-range team. Their list is sound with being spectacular, they’re disciplined and they’ve got a sprinkling of stars but overall they’re nothing to write home about. They had a big opportunity in a weak competition to win a flag in 2017 but blew it.

I can see a lot of teams going past them, and I’m struggling to see where the upside is coming from. They just lost one of their few talented young players and the only experienced player in their midfield with any X-factor is Gibbs, who is aging. Milera and Galluci are career flankers IMO.

I can see both teams in the bottom 10 with Adelaide finishing a few spots ahead.

Just adds another layer to this strange rivalry that’s only recently developed.

Interesting 1st round

Think we have done very well, along with the Crows, really rate Jones and McHenry. GWS have aslo done well.

Always perplexed with Freo's drafting, very very strange

I love Freo's pick.

And i reckon Port have massively overpaid for their 3 picks. They got the types they needed. A bit of run and class but considering what they did to get those picks and then what they got out of them, i've got them as my head scratcher.

Just catching up. I like the move, but really this was the final significant move in the rebuild phase of the list. Gov, Setterfield, Walsh, Stocker etc etc quality and quantity.

Now it’s just about getting games and development into the group. SOS has done some serious heavy lifting the last three years and it’s harr to see how we could have hoped for more from him.

Get 40 games into this and last year’s draft classes and that midfield is going to be frightening. For the first time since 2000, I think we have sufficient numbers of quality, genuine mids. A nice range of body types and skill sets as well. It really has been masterful from SOS.

Personally I’m hoping for Bugg and Palmer as the two we add later, but I have a feeling they’ll take Goddard for tall back cover.

Over to you Bolts, all the ingredients are in place.

Yeah not sold on Port's selections, didn't have Butters or Duursma rated in the first round

Sorry to say, I just don't rate Sturt, a other look at me player, similar to McCarthy, when they should have drafted someone like Stocker

thylacine60 bwahahahahah you can't whine about 'depth' anymore more ya whiny pussy - we can now all focus on what really matters - Mongrel !!

Can't see Carlton ever fielding an uncompetitive starting 22 from here.

you gonna bump it or me?

Just got to feel for those lads though. They go into a mess and will be thrown in at the deep end with not much support.

Geez, I like this new live trading :rainbow:

My guess is that SOS looked at our list and found that we needed a player just like Stocker moving forward; SOS then looked at next year's draftees and decided it was worth the punt now and made the trade
As someone else said here, we'll be trading our No.1 next year anyway. Take that to the bank.

Lets not fire all the bullets early - enjoying this strange feeling of not being able to see any spuds on our list for the first time in 20 years.....
