Just defies belief. Given our list, where we are, the tightness of the group and McKay's undoubted talent and the fact we have put a lot into him people would happily trade him for an untried 18 year old that has already done a knee.

How would the rest of our young group feel?

Just a gut feel, but i reckon Bolton(and prolly SOS in conjunction) tested out Harry on numerous fronts with a bit of tough love to see if they had faith in him going forward in the knowledge that the Kings(especially Max) and Luko were coming through.

Absolutely Harker, surely you would trade pick 1 for 2 picks in the top 6? So yes, it is a fallback scenario to have pick 1 alone, no matter the footballer selected

Can someone tell me why exactly everyone (well a lot of people) have us pegged to take tried and failed players in the draft when other clubs are signing them under the new rookie selection rule? It doesn't make sense to me but there might be a reason for it. It's not as though we lack an abundance of rookie list spots. Anyone?

We can't trade a future 2019 unless we get a future second 4th and 5th somehow. Another ridiculous AFL rule.

We can get an exemption.

If we trade our 1st next year, while trading back into the first round in 2019(any first round pick), then trading later 2019 picks or adding extra picks this year will be allowed under the rules

Really I can't think of one that involves us ending up with multiple 2018 first round picks (including staying high enough in the draft to get access to the top end talent) and throwing in a 2019 first rounder.

I've nominated some decent ones, but the key to getting value out of it is that the other team covets your draft position. They'll often bring in a third party in an attempt to prevent getting completely fleeced, however.

Don't even get me started about him getting myotherapy treatment whenever he likes...

With a day to go I believe there are 2 possible scenarios regarding Pick One.

We keep it and pick Sam Walsh

OR

we trade it for Picks 2,3,6, 24, 29 and a snickers bar.

Glad I'm not in SOS's position as I'm not sure what I would do.

In all seriousness, the scenario in which I had us turning 1, 69, 71, 79 our future 1st & 3rd and Adelaide's future 3rd into 3, 6, 23, 28, 31, 50 & 65 and Port's future 1st is at the extreme end of reality, wherein we connect up in direct trades with 5 clubs seeking to improve their draft position.

We'd be lucky if we saw 2 or 3 of these kinds of offers, but I'd be disappointed if we had the opportunity the existing hand I've listed above into the hypothetical result minus one of the 2nd rounders, and we turned our noses up at that for a shot at Walsh and a potential shot at Kelly.

My rankings haven't changed much for most of the 2nd half of the year. A little change with the King boys as Max has recovered well and some opinions i rate coming known being slight factors:

17 to 25ish is a big bunch of about 12 who could fit in in any order

If we are into Rankine and Walsh equally, I'd trade 1 for 2 and a second rounder. No brainer really.

Probably want Walsh, but knowing Suns want Rankine, getting it out there we want him too could get us something extra and potentially still get Walsh at 2.
