Just saw the Stocker highlights... he looks amazing. Some of the best highlights I have seen. I wonder had he played the championships, he would be a lot higher.

I am now thrilled with this choice.

One would think we rate him top 10. I would think Carlton and Adelaide will finish about 3 to 6 picks apart. So if we rate Stocker so highly... and watching his highlights, I can see that... then that trade is bold and genius.

Wow one of those deals which we won’t know anything about really until end of next season.

Both sides taking a gamble and you can look at it from both sides. Either way, both clubs needed big balls to pull that trigger and what will be, will be!
If everything goes to shit for us again you may well end up with pick 1. I think we should improve a few spots at least though.

Thomas and Quaynor bids are not realistic as to their draft value, but they want the player and the discount is there so you take it...

What makes you think that? Why would the Crows bid on Thomas at 8 if they didn't rate him? The value must be close otherwise clubs would not risk a club not matching.

I was very surprised Blakey didn't receive a higher bid, i rated him a bit higher and Sydney were always going to match.

If we are within 6 picks of the Crows, it is a huge win. Break even would be 10 picks differential

I think it is more reliant on where we finish. If Adelaide hand over pick 18 and we hand over pick 8, I still like our trade.
If we hand over pick 1 or 2 and only gain a pick 12 back, I like it less.

One of those deals we won't know anything about until about 8 yrs time. We could finish last next yr and you get no.1 pick and then we win the flag in 2023 and stocker plays in it, successful trade

AFL team adds players to its list. We aren't on an Island there.

But we have added real quality to a talented list. We still have a first round next year plus we will have cash to go to FA.

Our list is virtually set. We have an extremely talented group that can now grow together and have competition. The standards have been set higher and with Russell they can start building now. We have an extremely talented group that are quality kids.

IMO I cannot believe how well we have done. It's brilliant. Now its about development and getting them right

I'd rather we maximise our shitness rather than see other clubs benefit from it going forward.
seriously, your inability to see ANYTHING positive with regard to the club you follow is beyond curious...........

If we were willing to trade it why not trade it during the trade period would seem to be the question.

It's not the fact we traded it, it's what we got in return.

Might turn out to be a genius move, but the optics now aren't anything special.
Because we didn't know stocker would be available. Stocker wasn't picked after pick 18, we obviously rate him highly so we swooped. Simple logic

That pick 13 was our 2 second rounders plus you added a pick, so you cannot say pick 13.
so in summary our trading with you guys this year goes

Adelaide
in: McAdam, Pick 13 (made up of 2 x 2nd round picks) & Carlton 2019 1st (we hope it is atop 2-4 pick)
Out: McGovern, Pick 19 & 2019 1st (we hope it is between pick 15-18)

If you guys rise up the ladder and you may with all your in's and we don't hit the ground running, then you win the trade period with us clearly as it might be a pick 6-7 for pick 10-12 + pick 19). If as we hope you guys finish bottom 2-4 and we have a great year with our draw and less injuries etc, then that 2019 pick swap will be big for us and I think we win the trade, but all in all, it looks to be almost a break even

Sos saying on SEN

- that he’d had discussions with Crows last few days along with other clubs.

- started making calls around pick 13,14

- highly rate him etc

- best available last two picks

This was the plan all along it seems once Stocker slid.

We wen a flag...it’s still whining (book mark it...yeh wrong thread)

Geez... It is hard dealing with a few of the dimwits on the draft board...

Anyway, I will try and explain this whilst I am over the moon cracking a cold one ready to watch highlights into the night.

This is our final draft year for the rebuild. We are done being shit. Accept this.

Next year and the years to follow, we will no doubt be looking to trade our first rounders for legit talent at a tilt for a flag.

We filled our list with talent...

2015, 2016, 2017 and now 2018.

From now on, we look to start trading our first rounders for established talent and fill in the gaps.

Everyone is stuck in 2018 whilst SOS and Co are ahead in 2020. I love it.

Get excited Baggers, we have some smart men at the helm that we haven't had for a very long long time.

Really happy with this move. It's really just trading two first for one plus we get one a year early.
If we haven't got the talent to move right up the ladder by now even a top 1-3 pick next year won't help us because we would have a lot bigger issues than the access to top end picks.
There will invariably be a sense of lament if the pick we gave them is top end and they play finals. The reality is though, I don’t give a ****. I love that we are backing ourselves in and I will let everyone on BF punch me (or Thy) in the face if I ever whinge about this trade.

I don't think you can see the value bringing in this youngster in this strong draft. SOS clearly thinks we are going to spike next year. He has said it a couple of times already. We effectively got two first round picks in this strong draft - if Stocker was drafted in next years draft could potentially be number 1 pick. Watch some highlights of him and his raw power and skills.

How you cannot be happy with what we have done over the past 3 years and our list now is unbelievable. It is an incredible list. Now the climbs begins. Get excited

Maybe because SOS thought his man would be gone by 19?
