His highlights look better than Walsh.

I take it his stats aren't as high.

I get unnaturally excited at highlights that show people delivering left and right foot lace out passes to forwards.
Not quite, but finished really strongly on return from getting cracked in the jaw, which saw him miss playing for Vic Metro.

The trade was a bolt from the blue.... certainly woke me up a bit. Was struggling to stay awake until I heard that Carlton was next pick.
Risk versus reward.
Not that I needed a reason to support a team playing against Adelaide but this makes it better
Go Blues

seriously, your inability to see ANYTHING positive with regard to the club you follow is beyond curious...........

This is a reserve judgement moment. Haven't said anything negative, already said we have to wait a year to see how this one pans out.

People saying this is an awesome move have no idea if it will be or not. Yet you'll call them positive because of their opinion.

Positivity sounds rather simple minded in that example.

Geez... It is hard dealing with a few of the dimwits on the draft board...
Anyway, I will try and explain this whilst I am over the moon cracking a cold one ready to watch highlights into the night.

This is our final draft year for the rebuild. We are done being shit. Accept this.

Next year and the years to follow, we will no doubt be looking to trade our first rounders for legit talent at a tilt for a flag.

We filled our list with talent...

2015, 2016, 2017 and now 2018.

From now on, we look to start trading our first rounders for established talent and fill in the gaps.

Everyone is stuck in 2018 whilst SOS and Co are ahead in 2020. I love it.

Get excited Baggers, we have some smart men at the helm that we haven't had for a very long long time.

:thumbsu: Exactly how I see it

Adelaide are on the verge of imploding.

A source I know very close to one of their senior players said that much of the group don't like Don Pyke. Still very much some internal issues there, hope they manifest...
Maybe SOS got some inside word from Gibbs? Doesn’t hurt to fantasise! How good would it be if we finished higher than Adelaide! Imagine the smile on Gov’s face!

But we have added real quality to a talented list. We still have a first round next year plus we will have cash to go to FA.

Our list is virtually set. We have an extremely talented group that can now grow together and have competition. The standards have been set higher and with Russell they can start building now. We have an extremely talented group that are quality kids.

IMO I cannot believe how well we have done. It's brilliant. Now its about development and getting them right

Agree completely.

I will get shot down for this but I feel we have the potential to sneak into the 8. Prob won’t happen but at 8-1 I’ve had a dabble. Things can turn and this list is about as talented as they come

Also people valuing the pick at pick 19, when Adelaide's pick pre draft was 16, it just pushed out due to academy/fs selections.

If the deal was done pre-draft it would have been a swap of future 1sts with carlton getting pick 16.
And we decided to trade knowing who we got. It doesn't matter what number the pick was, we see it as a good deal to get a player we wanted badly.

And I don't care if we finish last next year. If stocker plays in a flag for Carlton the trade is a success

If we were willing to trade it why not trade it during the trade period would seem to be the question.

It's not the fact we traded it, it's what we got in return.

Might turn out to be a genius move, but the optics now aren't anything special.
How do you know we didn’t but had no takers? We won’t know how these players go until a few years anyway... so you can’t say it’s a bad return. I remember when I was on Talking Carlton and Synbad (for those that know him) went ballistic as soon as we drafted Cripps.... let time be the judge.

What if we finish last next year but stocker ends up playing in a flag (or more) for Carlton in the future? Is the trade a failure?

There will invariably be a sense of lament if the pick we gave them is top end and they play finals. The reality is though, I don’t give a ****. I love that we are backing ourselves in and I will let everyone on BF punch me (or Thy) in the face if I ever whinge about this trade.
co-sign that.....

The more I think about this, the less I like it. Does anyone have some literature from this year about Stocker?
Missed a lot of year with a broken jaw but was dominant in second part of year, is a good kick is tough as tough and went on to win Morrish Medal after missing a lot of footy, not that that means much Graham wonmorrish as well, but this is a good deal for us as far as I’m concerned I am ecstatic with it. Plus we stole him from under Richmond’s nose as they had real interest in him with there pick which was next.

Wow that was a shock, listening on the radio I didn't think we were getting Crows first back.

Does anyone know where we rated Stocker?

If we are trading our first next year (along with our 2020 first) for a star this is a good trade.
