Of course not.......just saying that certain players are not inside mids and are at their best moving the ball on the outside........hence the term "outside mid" I loved braddles with all his skills, so not putting him down just making a point.

Fair call

Personally, Boekhorst was really outside, so much so, that the grandstand was his best position

Cripps
Dow
Fisher
Setterfield
Walsh
Stocker
Petrevski-Seton
O’Brien

Our forward line and back line look just as exciting.
SOS has done it. He has turned our list around full circle. How can you look at that list and not get excited. For the first time I truly believe it’s going to be worth all the hard times.
Can’t wait for our list to mature. Bring it on.

Let's all sing together ...we are the baby blues ...we are the old dark baby blues

Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet but this could be a clear indication that we want to trade in a gun player next year.

If we finish last and let's say for argument sake Kelly nominates us. We'd be giving up pick #1 + our 2020 1st. But now, obviously we won't have pick #1 so if Kelly does nominate us we'd be giving up say #7 + 2020 1st.

So what I'm trying to get at here is that SOS may have tried to maximise the value he can get out of our 2019 1st. Instead of handing it over to GWS, we hand it over to Adelaide, get two 1st round picks instead - one for this years draft and one to hand over next year for a trade.

Anyway just a thought...

After last nights haul I don't think we need Kelly.

What we need is an Ainsworth from Gold Coast.

Side note. Feel so bad for the kids that ended up at the GCS. Some of them looked miserable. The GCS jumpers also looked ridiculously big and second hand....

I don’t know what the fuss is about. We didn’t have another pick until really late in this draft. This draft is considered a super draft, next year not so much. A top 20 pick this year is probably equivalent to a top ten next year, which we still might get. We still have a first round draft pick next year. Our club’s plan was to hit the draft for three years, this is our fourth year of doing that.

I think it’s a big win for us.

I think this trade fits in really well with SOS strategy. I think every one knows what type of player we will be looking at next year as a need.... a small forward type.

We have solidified our midfield now imo, and generally you don’t find these quality small forwards early in the draft but more mid 1st round.

2017
Pick 15 - Zac Bailey
Pick 17 - Jack Higgins

2016
Pick 11 - Olivier Florent
Pick 12 - Jye Simpkin
Pick 13 - Daniel Venables

2015
Pick 11 - Wayne Millera
Pick 15 - Daniel Rioli
Pick 18 - Jade Gresham

Again the thing I like about the trade is we shake this shit feeling of finish as low as we can for a pick.

The recruiters have turned the heat up on the players and coaches (yes I know the decision was whole of club most likely), but we went to the draft and now its time to deliver. I am rapt :D

That can also totally backfire if Adelaide's pick is well outside the range. We than may have to either add and additional first rounder or move on a player to get the required currency.

I'd personally be happy if we traded Adelaide's future first for Hill today. I doubt WC bite but I think it's worth a try.

That's intentional. We needed to get in as much draft currency as we could during the initial phase of the list rebuilding (trading out senior players, future picks) before we move onto 'Phase two' (which is when we specifically target free agents and trades).

Phase 1 is now complete. Next year is year one of Phase 2.

Yep. Also developing this group together is huge. Stocker will be a year ahead of anyone we get next year. That’s really underestimated

If he’s anything like the other Hills no thanks. Perennially inconsistent, despite
having great skills and run.

Gibbs could then pull a Beams and request a trade to the Blues.
That would be ha-larious. " Yeah nah we just weren't getting the support we expected so we're coming back to Victoria" :p

I watched Liams highlights again...I have to say how did he not go top ten? Big strong body, speed, agility, and by crikey he makes fantastic decisions that are totally team based. Knows when to pass and does it very effectively off both feet into a leading player. Or when to thread the goal himself. The kind of kick we just rarely saw at Carlton in the pre SOS butcher the ball days. Decent long handball on him too.

Yes, looks a beauty. I knew nothing about him, but I like the pick a lot. He has some Matthew Kennedy grunt, should be good for us when winter slog sets in.

Also, very assured when interviewed.

Two classy professionals in Walsh and Stocker.

So, as picks currently stand (#65, #67), we can match a bid for Ben at #45 without going into deficit, or #49 using only #65 without effecting #67. Cats have the pick between our two.[/QUOTE

Oh plz like who Is gonna bid on Ben silvagni ..give me a break

Great group of mids this year with Walsh Smith Caldwell Hately Stocker and we got 2 of them [emoji106]

If Stocker did not break his jaw how high would he have gone?

The Blues appear to say top 10.

Would other teams have valued him at top 10 without the jaw injury?

His highlights looks to validate our move, from the little I've seen.

Thoughts?

Also the value of having a 20 year old second year player in 2020 is surely much greater than an 18 year old in their first year.
