Character and competitiveness seem to be high on our wish list as well.
Question marks on Rankine in that regard but clearly his talent alone seems to far outstrip any others so it's one of the factors that may have knocked him back to second place.
Love how mature and driven Walsh and Stocker appear...can see them both having big impacts maybe as early as 2020.
You had to grab Walsh in our situation. Quite simply we take the best available wilt the lowest risk..cannot afford a big bust! Walsh will be beaut.
How good is this? The club's media department is kicking a lot of goals lately.
I like SOS' refusal to pull the trigger on the trade until Stocker made it to pick 19. Also had a quiet chuckle at Reid's attempt to find out which player SOS had in mind for that pick.

Harder to follow that video but in the confusion I think Crows were happy to trade pick 19 for Saints for Saints future 1st and pick 36 but Saints only interested to throw in pick 36 if future 1st rounders were swapped but Crows were not offering future 1st back to them. As the Saint guy said, Crows were kidding themselves. Cheeky of Reid

Yep. That was a shit show. Pretty sure Lethlean was playing Tetrus.
That is going to happen if you less sure of what you might be doing. SOS made it clear from start in our room, the only thing we doing is going for Stocker. No grey area and we only doing it when Crows on the clock. Does not surprise me Saints were less certain of what they doing and therefore more input from others. It is what I expected most clubs to be like on first time of live draft trading.

Really interesting we had Stocker at 6. Can’t find any other people that might have had him so high. Doesn’t seem many clubs did either. Have to back in our group. They know more than us. Rated 6 in a strong draft is impressive. To add Walsh & Stocker and keep a first round pick is awesome.

Perhaps he was rated 6 for us based on our needs rather than 6th best in the draft. What interests me was where sat vs Smith..
eg 1 Walsh 2 Rankine 3 Lukosious 4 Smith 5 Rozee 6 Stocker?
I don’t think clubs rate players in top 10 on needs. Purely best player

I like to look at it as we also drafted Setterfield. Ok it was a trade technically but to all intents and purposes....Great stuff all round.
Compare this video to the ST Kilda version.
SOS had all his ducks in a row with conversations and potential deals discussed with other clubs 4 days prior.
Saints were like a drunk throwing darts at a wall hoping they would hit something.

Yep. Not just depth to a position we need filling but all are elite talents. I rate Setterfield up with anyone we have drafted.
Most good sides have 2-3 top end players then good players.
Cripps Dow SPS Setterfield Walsh Stocker O’Brien is something very special

Easy to see looking at their list over the last few years, as well as what happened later in the draft, though they had the right idea in their early targets.
Watching that video now, it seems Adelaide think we're going to absolutely tank again this season.

I'm not speaking in terms of the outcome I believe in, simply that Adelaide clearly thought very little of our list's capabilities for 2019 at the time of the trade compared to St Kilda.
Well that could be to their downfall
