My wife was surprised I turned down nookie time in favour of the draft. I told her I’ve been WAITING ALL YEAR FOR ACTION FROM SOS!

The Fox coverage was disappointing. They kept showing clubs' recruiting boxes AFTER they'd picked their player. They should have been showing the recruiting box of each club before they picked ie discussing their pick, on the phone etc. Fox missed all the drama. Whether this was a directive from the AFL to provide privacy/secrecy for clubs I don't know.

Me: Yeah but Carlton are doing crazy things. Our pick is incoming now...

MIL:Come on, surely it’s over now?

Me: Just wait ...

Except for when they panned to the Swans table. You could see Dylan Stephens right there on their monitor for a good 2 minutes. Was pretty funny to be honest. Not much secrecy there.

Agree - surely not our 2020 1st for 2019 pick 24. That would be insane, no matter the perceived quality of who’s left. I see Geelong slipping a bit next year and us improving slightly, so it may be our 2020 1st rnd pick (6-8) for their 2020 1st (12-14). That’s a trade I could live with.

If all the conjecture about this being the end of SOS, it would be fairly obvious he would be doing whatever it takes to get a better pick tonight to put a full stop to his rebuild.

SOS loves the rush of trade week and trading! And if this is his last opportunity to get that hit for a while or forever he'll do it!

The beauty of trading futures now is that if done smart it can be perpetually done and done smartly... eg: trade a future 2nd this year... then next year trade your future 2nd again (or 3rd and 4th) to get back into the 2nd round etc....

Robertson has me stumped, I see him as a Neale clone

Rivers is another, kid that can play all over the park, with the way he reads the play/pill and elite by foot. Still see him as a top 10 prospect

Taylor on talent alone is also a 1st rounder, if he gets his head straight, motivated and committed, could become the most dynamic/dangerous player of this draft

Robertson has got most people stumped. None more than me. I have him at 3 on my final ratings behind Rowell and Jackson.

I guess it's up to him to do a Luke Parker or Worpel who were All Australian centremen and Club captains who were snubbed at the draft.

In saying that he can still go Pick 22-25 which is a lot higher than Parker(40), Worpel(45) and Neale(56). As Mick Ablett said last night, he'll use this as motivation.

Oh phew - im glad other clubs also rated him - that now makes him a better player. I was scared no other club rated him as that would mean he is a worse player because we picked him earlier than other clubs would have picked him. I can relax......

Legit I went through almost identical dialogue with my wife. Trying to explain the mechanics of live trading and Academic bidding when she had (arguably still has) no idea about the process was amusing. Surprised she was so receptive (usually gives the eye roll after the first mention).

Utter brilliance Ferris. Problem is I'm not sure most will get it. Yes, I saw it straight away. Others I feel may struggle a bit. Under appreciated way of writing in my opinion. Risky but ever so rewarding. Back on topic. Under no circumstances should SOS go. Me, you and all and sundry want him to stay,

I had not originally seen the hidden message. Amazing. The poem was brilliantly written even without factoring in the message. Amazing stuff.
