Assuming we make a bid on Henry as touted by some, does that cost us any draft points in the future when Freo match it ? (not really sure how it totally works)
Does not cost us anything. It costs Fremantle to match, not the bidder!
Their late picks this season are not worth enough to cover what they need to match the bid , so in reality they would go in debt to be paid back next draft. In essence whatever their first round pick is next year will be pushed back well into second round as a result if we bid on Henry at 9.
Of course if Swans bid on him at 5, Dockers have the picks directly afterwards and one of those would simply be used on him which Fremantle certainly do not want to do. They want to pick 2 other kids before Henry and get Henry as their third pick of draft. They obviously willing to accept next year's first rounder will get pushed back. Maybe they have another Academy played or father/son option next year so it all works perfectly for them as they could also make that up with middle or later round picks to follow on next year.

Pick 9 for 14 and 17 would not be stupid?

Thinking we could gain both Robertson and Rivers.

Maybe even Robertson and Weightman/Bergman/Taylor/

Those two combinations are not the worst I've heard. The only real players that I really want if they slip is Ash and Young.
Hell, the way the phantoms are dropping, Kemp may still be there at 14. Imagine potentially getting Kemp and Robertson.

Twomey has them at #15 and #16 for instance. #14 and #17 isn't a stretch.

Matt Rowell's parents on draft radio.

They sound lovely, and huge bluebaggers. Mum talked of getting Mark Maclure signatures when she was a kid.

Parents were asked how Matt will fit in on the Gold Coast. Mum said they might have to buy a spray paint gun and spray him with sun tan. Or fill a wheelie bin with sun tan and dunk him in.

Too funny.

....or put him in a huge envelope addressed to Princes Park, Carlton North, 3054

....make sure there are a few airholes though

If it’s Young, Stephens or Serong then I like them in that order.

Young and Stephens particularly impressive with their left feet, speed, and in the case of Young, his marking too.

This is completely based on the 45 second highlight reels on the AFL website👍🏼😀

Oh hello ...

Carlton and Adelaide are in talks over a blockbuster trade tonight that could deliver Hayden Young to the Blues.
The Herald Sun understands that the Blues would send pick 9 and a sweetener to the Crows in exchange for No.6, which would be used on Young
, a dashing half-back from the Dandenong Stingrays.

Adelaide remains confident it could still secure the player it wants, most likely Aaron Naughton clone Fischer McAsey, at pick 9.

If it's 9 and a future 2nd for 6 sign me up. Anything more and I'm skeptical.

But Young is IMO *the* perfect Simmo replacement. Will instantly be a top 5 kick at the club, is great defensively, and even has some potential as a midfielder (although if it doesn't pan out that way, it's not the end of the world with our current list).

If we draft Young, I'd rather us groom him into a balanced/outside mid.

He's athletic and has a penetrating kick.

Imagine the delivery to Charlie and Harry from that left foot.

Believe he played some games in the midfield at the end of the season and had three consecutive games with 25+ disposals.

How much credence do you give for current impact? I feel that this is one thing you (and many others) tend to undervalue, particularly given the underrating of Walsh in his draft season.

Just weigh it up. Usually takes a draftee 2-4 years to find their consistency

So I guess they still have 8 -10 years to impact the game
