Would expect as much after the years of high picks and then doing a first round swap with the Crows. If we were relying on it this year to take to the draft we'd have rocks in our heads. Or have messed up our last fees years of drafting big time, and it doesn't seem to be the case.

We will find a B+ player to fill a hole with that pick, assuming Kelly and Coniglio are off the table.

It is very very unlikely that we will be using our first pick in this years draft.

Industry takes notice of developing teams. Everyone knows we're on the cusp of rising and have a really strong list with quality young men.

Even if we don't rise this year, people will expect it to happen in 2020.

Just look at the Lions. Everyone is pumping them up to make gains this year.

Wouldn't surprise me if a trade from left field occurs a la Lachie Neale.

Expect the club to keep a lid. Smoke and mirrors everywhere. No leaks. Just refer to Liam Stocker trade. No one knew we wanted him in the first round.

I reckon we will be speaking to everyone we can. Will have an idea of what/who we need but that could easily change during season.

Look at what we did in trade/draft period last year. Have an improving year with young players starting to step up and there will be players wanting to come to us. 3-5 quality players coming in and 3 draftees is my take on it

Personally I would like to see us go after Riley Bonar, won’t cost a huge amount in a trade or salary.
I’ll be watching him with interest this season.

Others on the watch list, Ellis and Tomlinson, both FAs and both would improve our side going forward

Regardless of how we go this year, I’m expecting big things in 2020.

If not this year then we should be in the ear of Jordan Gallucci (out of contract end of 2020), young zippy small forward/mid with really nice skills and goal sense.

For this year our prime targets to fill that void should be the St. Kilda pair, they look to be on the verge of an awful season, good time to pounce.

He's a mate of a bloke who plays in my cricket team. Apparently a ripper of a youngster, and an athletic freak. Could've played cricket to a high level as well, apparently.

I'm not sure about him coming to Carlton, if only because I think we need his type less than we need other things. Tim Taranto, for example, would be a great in, or Lachie Whitfield (or Will Brodie). Or all three. A person can dream.

I don't really rate Gallucci as high as most people. Plays as the 6th fiddle in a strong forward set up, which will be interesting to analyze with the new rules.

He is quick, has a great leap but is average by foot

Limited vision but he tore us apart last year in a dead rubber admittedly, thought his footskills and finishing were good.

Bonner*

But yes, good player. Sadly he's long cemented himself in Port's team. I'd want to think bigger, as don't forget we have a future first in the mix as well.
