Thomson Dow named in the best players & kicked a couple of goals in Bendigo Pioneers' win over the Geelong Falcons.
Henry Walsh not in the best players for the Falcons.

I don't know if the Pioneers beating the Falcons is a surprise result or not, given the Falcons reputation as a 'talent factory'. Perhaps the factory has cut back production.

I also note Tom Papley's younger brother playing for the Gippsland Falcons. If he is even a half decent player, he can't be allowed to slide to the Swans like his older brother, given the family pedigree.

Pioneers only average 1 or 2 wins a yr so yes a surprise

I think you'll find every Carlton supporter will want to draft this kid.

Nothing better than seeing two brothers play for the same club.

Make it happen SOS.

SOS has two known modus operandi when it comes to recruiting brothers - either bad shoulders or stopped for drink driving and refusing a test. Not sure if if he can repeat both MO three times this year. May have to choose two out of three brothers.

Dow and DeKoning would be available in this year's draft, but Henry Walsh doesn't turn 18 until 2020, so assume he would be in next year's draft. As a 201cm ruckman, he would be exactly what what we need on our list moving forward as well.

Would be a great fairy tale with another three sets of bro's running around in the navy blue.

Brotherly love is all well and good - but I really do hope we do our due diligence and pick the players that we think will succeed. No point bringing in Agresta who we all assume can pull some Sydney-rookie magic out of his bum if we're going to overrule him to push the family angle.

Thomason Dow (Swan Hill/Geelong Grammer)
"Thomason is a midfielder who can play forward and kick goals
He's from a basketball background, so he has good peripheral vision,
really quick hands and good decision-making ability.
He's a pretty complete player and has really developed his body recently"

that would never happen

I'd assume not - but there seems to be some exaggerated frothing over these kids just because their older brothers play for us. Just pointing out that we can't necessarily have our cake and eat it to - we want late draft gems like Papley and Jetta, that probably comes at the expense of some of the potential good news stories of reuniting brothers at the same club. I know which I'd prefer ;)

If Agresta isn't assessing the state leagues whilst donning small forward coloured glasses this year I will be a sad panda.
What about the other end of the ground? We don't have a genuine small defender on the list, which is why we're developing Garlett there.

We could only hope for the Crows to finish last

If Cows finish in the bottom half of the ladder, it'll be interesting to see if we'll still head along the trade path at the end of the year, or elect to stay in the draft with our first round pick.

Sometimes it's easier to make the decision if you have a lower first round pick if you elect to trade...a top 6 or 8 pick may be hard to pass up on.

Alternatively, it gives you more bargaining power to trade.

I would really like us to keep the 1st round pick this year a hopefully grab a player like Higgins, Hayward or Butters.

There are plenty of good players available with our 2nd and 3rd round picks to do both.
