Good draft hand, plenty of ways to package picks to move up the order and GWS will be looking for pick swaps to improve their position on Ash.

If and it’s a big if, we get Cogs, I’d really like the club to take a first rounder to the draft, we still have plenty of holes to fill and important players coming to the end of their careers.

A ruckman, running defender and small forwards are a must.

DD I generaly don't question your knowledge too much …

Simmo
Shuey
Macreadie
Doc
Newman
SPS (he wont move far from this position I don't think)

That's six that can play in those 2 positions …. not sure we should load up too many more. Thoughts?

Simmo probably has 1 year left in him.

Shuey and Macreadie may or may not be on the list in a couple of years. Still question marks on them.

Doc coming off 2 x ACL's.

Newman. Yes, a good defender.

Would probably prefer SPS in the middle. Reckon he'll get better as the team gets better. Want him finishing off the play, not starting the play.

I dont think Samo will be a career backman. He's a natural midfielder for mine. Just needs a couple more years in the gym.
Will be interesting to see who is right.

I see him more in a Shane Edwards type role, can effectively play forward, mid and back, so he can just slot in wherever we need him.

Kade Simpson is heading in to his last season and most likely will miss more games than he did this year (my opinion)

Schummacher, has shown nothing to suggest that he is AFL quality and might not even be on the list next year.

Macreadie, even if he gets on the park, he isn't the running defender i am talking about (Z.JOnes, Z.Williams, N.Wilson, R.Laird, Johanison, Houil)

Doc, we can only hope he can stay on the park and we won't know how his game has been affected.

Newman, is doing a great job

SPS is finding his way off half back, but i don't see him offering the run and physical presence i am looking for.

We've done quite well with our later picks recently, Cuningham, Fisher, and Williamson come to mind immediately.

Cunners and Fish are 1st Rounders and Willo has not proven anything to date...SOS had his work cut out this year with no early picks especially as we seem to be trading pick 8.
Would be nice if we could find some gems in the rough 3rd/4th Rounders or even Rookie Draft

Really hope so.

Dream scenario would be to get Kemp with pick 8.

Otherwise a couple of picks in the mid-late teens is the way to go.

I really hope not, I’d be more than happy having a rule that rules out any player who has suffered an ACL in the first 2 rounds of the draft, there is just too much risk.

The likelihood of re accurance is very high and increases each time, not to mention other complications that arise from surgery relating to soft tissue injuries.

Yes I agree however I wouldnt call them sliders....I mean the ones that should go much earlier but fall through.
That's Patty Kerr and Macredie. The reality is that for every Worpel there are 4 other sliders that don't make it. I generally don't like betting on horses that have drifting odds. Same is generally true in the draft

Kicking this one off nice and early. Some early contenders for the 1st round next year (rough order).

1 Noah Anderson
2 Brodie Kemp
3 Dylan Williams
4 Thomas Green
5 Hayden Young
6 Sam Flanders
7 Jeremy Sharp
8 Luke Jackson
9 Mitch O'Neill
10 Will Gould
11 Lachlan Potter
12 Caleb Serong
13 Matthew Rowell
14 Cooper Stephens
15 Cameron Taheny
16 Lachlan Ash
17 Emerson Jeka
18 Dylan Stephens

Will update this soon, but a player I think will/should force his way into the top 6 and possibly higher is Trent Rivers

Did he play Colts on the weekend? Checked results couldn't see his name.

Someone on this board liked him after the champs, was that you Arrow?

From memory big midfielder with good skills. If we keep pick 8 hopefully not gone by then.
