Did he play Colts on the weekend? Checked results couldn't see his name.

Someone on this board liked him after the champs, was that you Arrow?

From memory big midfielder with good skills. If we keep pick 8 hopefully not gone by then.

Couple of others have mentioned him, but what I have liked is his versatility and what he has done since the carnival. Can play a number of positions and likes like playing as a big bodied mid who has incredible awareness and game sense, topped off with very good disposal

Very early but do you reckon he's a top 10 pick or would you be able to trade down to get him?

Also, would you still be looking at Dylan Williams as a prospect? Value selection or just not as good as recruiters initially thought?

Had an interesting brunch yesterday with some 'footy people'. Had a bit of a chat about this years draft. I can tell all it's not deep with 2 standouts (no surprises) but they play together which can be a hindrance to either but they will go 1 and 2 and probably to GC...

Crows the big losers as they need midfield speed or Adelaide lads and there is not much in the pool, last years class was the one they needed!

For us, not going to matter as we will trade our first out, that's the mail from north of the border, again no surprises...

This years draft, bar first 2, would be outside top 10 from last year...

Cogs decision by Friday.

Paps looks likely to stay as Swans want the world, again nothing new but the Swans a chasing someone and might need two top 10 picks to get it done, tried for a name or color of club but nothing doing, I have a fair suspicion though...

Also told that Crows players( about 7-8) looking for a way out the door. Talia, Crouch boys just to name a few (coach related), this was before Roo's comments...

We are now a very attractive destination and they had a chuckle about the 'AFL intervention'. They 'AFL' want us to be successful but not yet is their belief, it would not be in the AFL's best interest if we did a Brisbane because it would knock their teams out and we would be a super power. The Hawks, W.C, Geelong, GWS the AFL can control... Us, Pies and Bombers the AFL cannot control, so if we get too strong too quick, the 3 of us will be strong as well as the Tigers...

I was shocked by the statement but that's the mentality we are up against...!

Just some information I can pass on, again it was general conversation...

THanks goreds.

Cog's decision Friday would suggest he is staying.

Absolutely wonderful post. Quality, legit, no B.S.

Hard to see him making an announcement of intentions to leave before their season ends.

The way I see it:
- anything pre finals is most likely going to be GWS,
- anything post finals exit is Carlton bound...
Decision to me means he will decide, doesn’t mean it will be announced. Could be GWS saying “mate we have to know where we are headed, we need to know by X day”

If I was GWS I’d be doing that to bring it to ahead, just because he tells GWS doesn’t mean it’s announced and made public.

Yeah. Fair point.

Still think a decision at this time probably gives GWS the edge.

Cheers mate. Wouldn’t it be nice if against all expectations we Brisbane’d Next year. Just as payback to Gil for interfering in the Cogs scenario

I’m not too sure how the AFL couldn’t control the big 4 but could control WC. Also good job AFL on controlling Hawthorn and Geelong in the past.

Sorry, I should explain it for you a bit better. The home of AFL is Melbourne, everywhere else is considered controlled because of grounds and the need for teams in that state (state gov. money)...

No matter how many finals GF the Hawks/Cats win/won their core numbers will never grow to the size of the big four, ever. Forget 'membership' numbers, it goes much deeper than that. Old money and family power brokers have always and will all ways influence the game, commission or no commission this is a fact which never gets brought up. And finally, corporate dollar. This is the major concern for the AFL, reason being if the big four get a strangle hold on the competition they will command PRIME TIME TV space as will the network provider and the major sponsors.

We were rubbish last year and yet the network requested Carlton games for Fridays, why, because we get watched by the masses. The only reason it changed this year is because the 'lesser' teams complained and their respective mouth pieces 'i'e. Whately' screamed the loudest and created a frenzy...

Next season will be very interesting as we could be in for a big season, does the AFL pull the trigger and give us 5+ Fridays to cash in on revenue or do they listen to the mouth pieces again??? The dog that barks loudest gets fed first!!

I can guarantee Channel 7 want us and the Pies as much as possible!

Basically, control is money. The big 4 control the ability to make more of it...

So you're saying the AFL don't want to make more money?

They do but not at the cost of other teams becoming irrelevant. There is only so much corporate dollar around and it's not going to grow at the rate it has in the past, especially the TV dollar. Foxtel is dying a slow death, Google, Prime, Apple positioning themselves for prime time sports which could mean pay per view for Friday or Saturday night games.

Again, I hate saying it but the NFL model is nearer than we think!

The way Foxtel/Kayo is clinging onto the rights, they won't die, they'll basically fund their own budget streaming venture while sweetening the pot for the AFL.

AFL House will get coaxed into keeping Murdoch's empire alive and well.

My Top 20 Draft Picks for 2019
  1. Tom Green - I think he's tremendous and will carry his team on his shoulders if that's what it takes. A bid by the Suns with Pick 1 will be matched by GWS.
  2. Noah Anderson - Powerful midfielder who can also hurt you in the air and on the scoreboard. Plenty of improvement left in him.
  3. Matt Rowell - Is probably the accomplished prospect in this year's draft. Amazingly consistent and rarely plays a bad game. Many rank him as this years' best.
  4. Hayden Young - Composed medium defender with precise kicking skills who has also shown an ability to play as an outside mid. Highly rated.
  5. Caleb Serong - Small, but strong midfielder with a nice burst of acceleration and who is deceptively strong in the air. Kicking under pressure can be suspect.
  6. Lachlan Ash - Line-breaking medium intercept defender who hurts the opposition with his speed, agility and excellent kicking. Unlike many HBF he can find his own ball.
  7. Sam Flanders - Can extract the ball at stoppages and kick spectacular goals when playing as a small forward. Has good speed and genuine X-factor.
  8. Dylan Stephens - Lightly-built, but quick outside midfielder with good speed and excellent kicking skills. Good tackler despite his lack of bulk.
  9. Fisher McAsey - Key defender who is sound in the air, possesses good closing speed and has reliable kicking skills. Shown he can also create run out of the back half.
  10. Deven Robertson - Inside mid who is a one-touch player with good speed and excellent endurance. Winner of this years' Larke Medal.
  11. Will Gould - Powerful interceptor and rebounder who possesses an accurate booming kick. One who could have an impact in his first year.
  12. Brodie Kemp - Tall utility with good skills. Would be inside the Top 6 except for a small issue of doing his ACL.
  13. Jackson Mead - Small-medium balanced midfielder who Port Power may take as a Father/Son selection.
  14. Liam Henry - Small forward with very clean disposal skills even under pressure. Like many indigenous players he can light up a forward line in a split second.
  15. Mitch O'Neill - Small outside midfielder who can win his own ball and has the speed to spread from the contest.
  16. Dylan Williams - Medium forward who can find his own ball in the contest and is a very good mark for his size. Has good skills and makes his possessions count.
  17. Trent Rivers - Balanced Midfielder who has the size and speed to break out of contests. Generally finds his targets with good disposal by hand or foot.
  18. Finn Maginness - Inside midfielder who should end up at the Hawks as a Father/Son selection. Has an excellent defensive side to his game.
  19. Luke Jackson - The best ruck prospect in this years' draft pool and had a good U18 Champs. It'll be interesting to see where clubs rank him as he's not the tallest.
  20. Cameron Taheny - Medium forward with excellent speed. His good is brilliant, but his bad is terrible. Dunno.
