SOS was the absolute star of the night for the AFL. If this was his last draft, he left it all out on the field.
Didn’t he just, the AFL should kiss his butt he is the draft master when it comes to bids and live trading, we all knew he was stalling to get the trade done and he maximised our draft hand to perfection, he knew the other clubs weren’t going to take Kemp before that pick and played it perfectly. Club needs to do everything they can to keep him in charge of our list and drafting cause we don’t want to be working against him he is a monster. Well done SOS we love ya

Go for Papley, still no small forward for the future. Should request a trade again you'd think. Just hope he doesn't become part of some deal between Dons and Swans for Daniher.
Just a thought, maybe we picked up Philp as the alternative to Papley? Or maybe as a replacement for Betts when he hangs up the baggy shorts?

I thought if we picked up Robertson then we wouldn't go for Wines next year.
But now we picked Philp, I'm wondering if we leave Papley and potentially go after Wines?

Freeo fans are filthy... good reading

About what?!? They have had a sensational night IMO. Did they think Henry was going to be free??? We had ITKs saying for weeks that we were interested in Henry. I honesty believe these were legitimate bids. We would have been happy with Henry or Green. Slight overs for Henry and unders for Green, but would have taken either at 9.

I will be honest, I have had a very rough evening health wise, nearly 2 hours ago I had a really bad panic attack (thought it was a heart attack) and the fine ambos had to come check me out, i am now okay, but this draft and the players and haul SOS trawled in did really lift my spirts and helped to erase the negative/fearful thoughts that were racing through my mind.

I cannot thank Mr Silvagni and the Carlton Football Club enough, this has been another wonderful night for the club, and was the placebo I needed the most. #GratefulElmer

not really we basically gave up a futre 2nd pick and 3 picks in the 50s for henry which is def worth it
You may not be but your draft day thread says otherwise... can't quote from your board though....

Wowzers, that is really decent of you friend :)

Thank you

I wonder why we traded up from 22 to 20 for Philp, did we get wind Richmond wanted him?
Must have.
Richmond did look like they were going at double speed with their pick.

I think the bidding was great. Overdue really, Melbourne should have bitten on Green at 3.

The trade down was smart, and clearly something that had been on the cards for a while. Whoever we were excited about at 9 must have been gone.

Kemp is great at 17. Take the sliding top talent. Risk, sure, but look at the lad. He LOOKS like a star. Worth the go, for sure.

Only thing I’d do different is when you take the “risk” with 17, you take the “sure thing” at 20. Dunno anything about Philp, but feels a reach. Whatever Stevenson’s shortcomings may be, there’s a strong case for take the player for what he can do, not avoid him for what he cannot.

Anyway. It’s all done now. Reckon we played it pretty well. Probably wasn’t plan A coming in, but looked like a well considered plan B.
