Don't really give a shit about ratings. I think this years trading also reflects the Stocker trade last year. Philps considered a reach, Stocker considered a reach last year. Stocker tracking well by pre season reports, proof in the game playing this reason and beyond. Philps will be the same, Kemp has almost a year lay off. Given the youth we have and the fact that the draft is youth, how have we gone trade wise? This is where people less lazy than myself come in with the draft swaps and maneuvering details last year and this year, because last year affected this year. Seems to me sos is a pretty shrewd operator, maximising picks and playing his hand as the cards are dealt. One opportunity gone is another to be had. Kemp could have been taken at pick 9, gambled, got Kemp plus Philps. I know some people preferred others, Robertson etc but can't see sos bypassing a great opportunity for a shit one.

The Blues would’ve held the No.4 pick, but they instead split that into Stocker and pick No.9 during the 2018 draft.

The wash-up means that Silvagni has effectively converted a No.4 selection into Stocker, Kemp and Philp by hitting the phones and taking advantage of the AFL’s new live trading rules.

This original link worked for me.

Thanks for posting this. SOS is such a legend, and seeing his trade manoeuvring tonight makes it even more sad that he is likely to depart. His footy brain won’t be lost to the industry for long, and it pains me that he has likely been forced out by meddling from other departments. He will resurface somewhere else, and we will regret losing him.

I will be honest, I have had a very rough evening health wise, nearly 2 hours ago I had a really bad panic attack (thought it was a heart attack) and the fine ambos had to come check me out, i am now okay, but this draft and the players and haul SOS trawled in did really lift my spirts and helped to erase the negative/fearful thoughts that were racing through my mind.

I cannot thank Mr Silvagni and the Carlton Football Club enough, this has been another wonderful night for the club, and was the placebo I needed the most. #GratefulElmer

Look after yourself Elmer...Carlton, Leeds and the world all need you up and about 💙

I just feel it's unfair on Cuningham that we constantly spell his name wrong...with Philp on board that will now be a burden shared. Watch DC blossom now.

High times at Princess Park.
you utter tol.........

Can anyone send a link to some Philp highlights when they find some?

Acme isn't a made-up word or a jokey acronym, but comes the Greek akme (the "highest point” or “peak,” and often used to mean the best of a category). Its heavy use in cartoons comes from its popularity as a name in the era when the Yellow Pages and other alphabetized phone directories became common.

Any chance other clubs will be put off by Will Gould's weight and may be available at our pick? He's one of my sister's favourites along with Taheny and Flanders (gone).

I’m going to miss SOS, he always extracts maximum value from the cards he has been dealt. Playing chicken with Adelaide so that we could could draft both Curnow and McKay in 2015, though to extracting an extra first round pick by (correctly) forecasting that the player we wanted at pick 11 (9) would still be there at 17 (15). There’s nothing boring about SOS and draft night.

I can't even remember the last draft where there wasn't value on the board at 50-70. We need a ruck, we need role players. I wonder if we'll target Nick Bryan at our next pick?

Additionally, I would have been happy to trade down into a range for Jeremy Sharp and boosted our 4th pick up the order.

Didn't we have 5 list spots available before tonight Jim? If that's correct, Kemp, Philps, 43, Martin and a spot open to add a player later. Wouldn't have used 55 in that case.

You could see that trade was going to happen from a fair way out the way the draft fell. Then when our pick came, SOS on the phone with Cameron “hold on Craig, I’ll just buy us a bit more time”. 5 minutes later “hang on Craig, we’re not quite there yet, I’ll buy us another 5 minutes”. Bid twice and then bail........ good times.

"In one foul swoop, the Blues added significant depth and quality in all areas of the ground: and that was just with two picks."

"......one foul swoop........
