Grainger-Barras would be a wonderful get at our pick. Looks a special player. Weiterings partner in crime for 10 years.

It's not easy projecting how some of last years stand-outs may have fared this year.
It's a lot more of a lucky dip than usual for the obvious reasons.

This is what Knightmare sees/saw of DGB. Those first two points are a bit of a worry; Weaknesses: Endurance, production, size and strength.

So the player we pick should not only be the 'best available' but also 'meat and potatoes' and a 'midfielder', but we shouldn't 'overthink the selection'? Am I the only one detecting problems here? I much prefer good old-fashioned bias.
I'd prefer a tofu and rice but that's just me.

195cm so size and strength isnt a huge issue unless you want your 18 year olds like Kieran Collins. Endurance can be built upon and its far from the most important attribute for a KD. He's also playing consistant senior WAFL which is pretty amazing for a young key defender and suggests that he's physically ready to play against men regardless.

Production? Again he's a key defender so its not the most important thing but he played on the number 1 draft pick in the WAFL seniors this year and gathered 17 disposals which is pretty good.

Not having seen him play, but if Macrae's brother is anything like his sibling, then he's the one I want. Another high possession, hard running midfielder
Same
If we keep our pick this is who I want as well.

I think we'll keep it, trade or split out second to get Saad if he nominates. If Kelly or Merrett is available, then we consider trading.

On draft night, we'll trade down for value until our targets are in range.

If true that we are chasing Merrett, a Merrett Saad combo for our first and a second or third rounder coming back our way may suit our needs better than picking up a first rounder in a compromised draft.

Essendon would want a first for Saad, let alone Merrett and Saad and picks coming back.

That gets said a lot here but he is uncontracted and was picked up by them for their second round pick in the early thirties. They aren't in a position to negotiate hard should he choose us as his preferred club

That's all well and good for Saad, but what about Merrett? He's easily worth a first and I dare say * will be asking for two.

Saad is not worth a first, he's barely worth a second overall. But yes, both would merit more than just a second.

Saad has pace but his delivery out of the backline is bower-esk. Takes off without really thinking about whats ahead, i have enough anxiety with Jones, much rather Hunt from Melbourne but doubt he'd be forsale
