Carlton's list

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Jaryd Cachia is a gun I reckon, did a few tagging rolls last year, hasn't got a AFL game this year and will be on trade table, guys like Richmond,North,Melbourne need players like him.

You should read through this thread and see my earlier posts re MM record. (Which say pretty much what you are saying).

If you take out the Eagles years he has one of the lowest win loss ratios of the modern era - The Eagles period is an extreme outlier in his LONG career - and I go through and specifically highlight the players who were already there when he walked in - it was one of the greatest lists ever handed to a coach in history - he would have had to be the worst coach in history NOT to have won a flag.

I did read your post earlier... I was surprised by his overall win-loss record in his last 30 years. I wasnt shocked about his Eagles record was around 65%. If you only counted his 1990-1996 years, it probably would of been upwards of 70-75% as in all bar one of those years which was 1995, Eagles always finished in the top 4 with a minimum of 15 wins with 1991 was the best year with 19 wins an 3 losses which the combined losing margins of those 3 losses was 16 points. So yeah he did stumble on a very very strong side.

I was Surprised with his Collingwood win loss ratio in those 12 years there too. As Collingwood made finals in 8 of those 12 seasons which included 4 grand finals. One of those seasons was when the Magpies got 4th spot with 13 wins. That will never be achieved with the current AFL format of 18 teams. Of those 4 seasons the magpies didnt make the 8, 2001 was the best one with 11 wins, 11 losses and 9th spot.

Its weird because at the Blues, he should have some good resources. They would be definitely better than what he had at the bulldogs in the 1980s.

Old dark navy that is possibly the funniest post I have ever read. Your first sentance was "The problem with Carlton supporters, especially those posting here, is that they are utterly blinkered and have zero capability of looking at things impartially, hence have no credibility"

Then you finished off by saying Carlton has the potential to win a flag in the next year or 2. And I thought our supporters are delusional.

You have named 4 players as super young talent includnig yarran who will be 24 next year(hardly young by afl standards). I watched the bulldogs yesterday and I reckon the have 10 kids who are the equal or better, GWS and the suns have 20 that are equal or better. I reckon most supporters on here could list atleast 4 youngsters they rate just as highly. Carlton has arguably the worst young talent in the comp, most carlton supporters I know agree with this and that is saying something. Based on the other players you listed most of who are aging or b graders you need alot more young talent than that coming through.

Smart recruiting is ditching Laidler and picking up Everett?

Jeez.

The young talent looks terrible.

If you're calling "young talent" 24 and under then you're putting those players in the same basket as Wingard, Hannebury, Parker, Cameron, Gunston, Ebert, Libba - the list goes on.

If you're saying flag in 2 years you need to line up that Carlton squad against any of the top 6 sides. It doesn't work.

Indeed

Carlton will not win the flag in the next year or two.

In fact they'd be long odds to even make finals next year or in 2016

Yeah, you're right. Collingwood have only contended for a flag in 3 to 5 of the past seven years.

I expect them to contend every year, they are a constant disappointment, is there any room on the Carlton bandwagon now that you're clearly going to be a contender?
You might want to change that to contending for a flag in 3 to 5 of the past eight years…

Mate - go back through this thread and read my comments on our players - i tear strips off them.

That list you are commenting on is someone elses list - I am commenting on theirs - again - its not mine.

Keep up.

On Eddie Betts:

Kicked 42, 50 and 48 goals in 2010,2011,2012 before having a poor 2013 due to injury and suspension. For those 3 year where he was fit and able to get on the park each week, he played 22, 23 and 24 games. So that's 140 goals in 69 games or 2.02 goals per game.

Now in Adelaide he's kicked 34 goals in 16 games or 2.125 goals per game. He's basically on track for a very similar year to his last 3 uninterrupted seasons at Carlton.

But ignore all that, he's clearly a player that's suddenly gone to a whole new level now that he's left Carlton and gone to a real team.

In other words - playing like he did under Ratten before Malthouse ruined him like he did half the Carlton team.

Malthouse didn't do anything to ruin Eddie last year. He was injured, he had the suspension, he had his future plans up in the air. He still got to play the role he enjoyed playing. Nobody messed with the structure to make it harder for him. 2013 was Eddie's doing.

How much money is Eddie on and how much is Daisy on?

But not as much as Thomas?
Haven't heard much from good old fudge over the last 6 weeks!
Here's something to ponder - dale Thomas is on 625K a year - he's played every game and is a well liked and respected leader. Collingwoods three 'gun' recruits - lynch, white and young are on $1 million a year, have had no impact and were all named in the magoos this week...
