I'd definitely have Murphy in the 10-20 bracket. But Murphy aside, only Gibbs may become an A grader from our current list.

Murphy is being so overrated. He might have been an a grader two or three years ago but not anymore. Gibbs is the only A grader on their list, and probably Judd at his best still (though that's irrelevant since he'll likely be gone next year).

Carlton need to make some hard decisions at the end of the season. The only players I would definitely keep if I was mm would be Murphy, Gibbs, Buckley, cripps, Menzel, Henderson, Jamison and Judd. The rest now have until the end of the season to prove that they should be on the list for next season.
Players like walker, Garrlett and yarran could be traded off for picks while they still have currency. Using these players they could land some decent picks which set them up for their next assault. They desperately need, IMO, a strong inside mid to add some toughness to their midfield and a big key forward so they have a target to kick to instead of Waite whose past it.
The board need to back MM in for the rebuild as he has done it before. With the right drafting, trading and free agents they could be back in the hunt within 3-5 years.

Bryce Gibbs is beginning to really show his value as a player.
IMO he has almost rocketed up to being the best player on the list. His last month and a bit of football has been exceptional. In another team littered with midfield talent he could probably take his game to another level.
The rest of the list needs major work, I'm sure Carlton fans are aware of this.

Won the AFLCA in 2011, was AA and won a few media awards too (as well as the B&F).
So you're right, he hasn't been great since. I don't think it's a coincidence that he had two fairly serious injuries in 2012 and 2013, both in a similar manner. Broken collarbone from hitting Dangerfield, broken jaw from colliding with Hodge, both much bigger and stronger bodies than Murph. I wonder just how much that has dented his confidence, in my eyes he has also had to shoulder way too much inside work when a) he's not that type of player and b) the collarbone and jaw incidents both shook him for a while (he also had a slow start with a knee injury in 2013).
His best is still obviously an A grader, and I'd say he's still obviously very good, but he's not the absolute weapon we had a few years back.
Well we've had Scotland, Duigan and Bootsma out - none of whom were long term players.
If we can add Waite, Lucas, Watson, White, McLean, Armfield and one or two of Robinson, Bell and Ellard to that list, our list will be going in the right direction. And Jeff Garlett, an obvious talent who's kicked 39+ goals 3 times, but he is out of sorts at the moment.
I think the only thing stopping us culling 11-12 is the question after that - how do we refill the squad with talented players? I mean, if we are going to go to pick 70 and so on, then it's just better to keep the likes of Robinson or Ellard (should be depth players). If we can get 5-6 picks in the top 50 or so (bundle packages, maybe have to give up a better player for a couple of picks in the 30s and keep Robbo instead) then yes the clean-out would be accepted, by me at least.

I tend to agree with your top list, bar Yarran. He is a must keep. As is Docherty. And hopefully Casboult will be that big key forward. But as for trading Walker/Yarran - look at the bottom 10-12 players on our list (my post above) - that's not including guys like Cachia or Wood. We have too many guys who just aren't up to it at AFL level, it would be detrimental to keep those guys and trade players in our top 10-12 instead. We obviously won't get good deals for the not-so-good players, but yeah, I think quality depth will improve the quality of our top liners.

Warnock is a keeper for sure, has the years in the legs and is a premier tap ruckman. Needs to get better around the ground, but hes a keeper as a ruckman

When your leading ball winner vs GWS is Mitch Robinson you know you are in a bit of strife.
Having said that got to say the blues have not looked bad the last two weeks vs geelong and hawthorn. This loss however undoes almost everything.

Fair enough, I've seen only a handful of Carlton games this year so my knowledge on their list is quite limited. They need to be smart this off season otherwise they'll be in for some dark times. I reckon they need a mid like josh Thomas from Coll (using him as an example), not the most talented player like Gibbs or Murphy but will always give 100% and won't shirk from a contest.
Its the off field stuff that is the biggest issue with the club, the Malthouse appointment was a huge step backwards in my book and his mate Buttifant hasn't helped either. Since losing Cordy and gaining Buttifant our ability to run out games has greatly diminished & since the appointment of malthouse we have dropped off in our tackle pressure by 8-10% and instead of these limp wristed efforts occurring twice a year they have happened in at least 7 of our 13 games thus far this season.

He has also been robbing peter to pay paul by playing Henderson forward which isn't working, he looked great as a CHB and has looked average at best up forward. His chip chip boundary line play has destroyed the natural game of these players, they no longer attack and take the game on and without key forward its a waste of energy.
The recruiting staff are also up shit creek without a paddle at the minute, they have continually spent our first round picks on players with the ability to do some flashy stuff but do not do the hard yards such as Lucas & Watson. Cripps is the body type carlton should have picked up 3 years ago to replace Judd into the future and they still haven't attempted to draft any key forwards since Casboult as a rookie pick 4-5 years ago?
So before they sack the playing list dump the coaches and recruiting staff as well, the only blokes I want to stay are Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Buckley, Menzel, Casboult, Yarran & Kruezer providing he plays in the ruck not forward. The rest can be traded/delisted along with the entire coaching panel, I don't know if any of them are worth keeping tbh.

People being incredibly harsh on Murphy. He's not the problem, and he's comfortably back to his 2009-2012 form after a comparatively down year last year.
Carlton's list? It's a real mess, but i think they're aware of that now.
We need more midfield depth in general, blue chip midfielders and KPP's at both ends, better rucks, better HBF's and HFF's etc

So who do you suggest Carlton employ as head coach? I reckon malthouse is the man to lead them out of this mess but he needs the backing from the board. He also needs the right support network around him with assistant coaches/recruiters etc.
MM was given the opportunity to surround himself with his hand picked crew of 'yes men', guys like Wiley and Butters.
The existing support crew, including guys like A.Richardson were moved on.
Carlton also paid for the altitude jaunt that Mick and Butters love during pre-season, but wouldn't afford Ratten the same luxury as being able to pick and chose pre-season training locations.
MM was given absolutely everything he requested since taking over, the question is will the new board continue to fund his every whim?
