Thanks Vanders - and about time too. I thought there were some good signs, especially from some of the young blokes.

Congrats Saints. Eagles have got some work to do but still some positive signs. What I want to see is how we perform with our best team in but we probably won't see that till a couple of rounds in.

Saints deserved it but Eagles fielded a side of an average age of 21!Some good signs for both. How about Hald forward Andrew Embley gettin the job on Hamill. Great experience fot him. Humm looks a good Rookie and Dean Cox.Beetham looks a good prospect for the saints. Everitt looked unbeatable in the air.
Gotta curse the colours again. One black red and white and the other blue red and white. It's crazy. The Eagles should have been in blue and yellow. C'mon AFL, sort it out.

Can't believe we wore the away jumper, stupid decision.

A few promising signs, but we really were bad for much of the game (mostly 1st and 3rd quarters). Yes there's a number of excuses we could offer, but in short so many of our boys were not in touch, fumbling and not defending anywhere near well enough. Hopefully this will improve with experience and the guidence and support of older players (not that I'm pointing out who was missing
).

Good to get back into the last quarter, but with senior players from both sides on the bench, i dont know just how much to read into it....

Anyway- onya Saints fans, your guys were good, and you all deserve a win!

Wasnt Gardie good? He is one angry man this season... fired up and it's great! Just hope his temper stays under control. Wilson was heaps better this week, Prior contributed a bit too....

Thanks to all the well-wishers. D) D)

Not much to read into the match either way. Plenty of young guys from both sides got a chance to run around with some of the big boys in a match. From that point of view I think the experience for our Rookie list players was great. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but, I believe that we still have two spots available on our Senior list so Milne, Wittison & Oliver, time to get stuck in fellas.

Certainly not a match to hang shit on the opposition, who basically won the last three quarters. Looking forward to when we play a fair dinkum match when I hope we belt the R$%^%, ^%^*^% tripe out of ya!

Thanks Vanders, Dutchy, #15 (get better soon) and everyone else, the win was definitely enjoyed!

I agree with you Fred, the younger blokes like Moyle, Hayes, Beetham are looking like they are going to take that next step this year.

Spider was sensational. I'll be expecting another few shockers before he puts in a performance like that again.

If Harves doesn't get over his injury soon, Aaron Hamill may very well take his place as my favourite player. I've never seen anyone attack the ball like he does in the forward line. The amount of times he put his body on the line and did all of the one percenters for the team was fantastic. (Not that anyone would ever replace Robert Harvey as my favourite player
)

Playing three rookie listed players and having Harvey, Loewe, Hall, Gehrig, Lawrence and Hudghton to return, I think we are in a good position 4 weeks out from the start of the season. Having said that, playing a team without the likes of Cousins, Kemp, the Matera's, Jakovich and Cummings made it a little easier.

I think you are pretty spot on Karnaby. My understading is that there are two vacant spots on our list. And I'm sure that was in the back of the rookie players minds because Milne, Wittison and Oliver were excellent. Especially Wittison, I wouldn't be surprised if he is promoted and gets his chance early in the season.

Add Braun and McIntosh to that list too Sainter but nonetheless you boys had a good win. Very encouraging to see my team actually run the game out well. After the 1st quarter i thought we were the better team.
