You're off on the context of "Cos this is not ninety-three". Its not about being dropped in '93.

Its about the accusations in the preceding lines occuring at a "now" rather than back in '93.
Its not '93 now. You're no longer a sporting hero that people will make excuses for.

And then alone in his house
He wants to take baby out
Give us a smile
Boy if you touch her again
I'll tell your wife and your kids
About that time
Cos this is not ninety-three
You lost your spot on the team
You're out of line

There was a song a few years ago that got played on Triple J heaps by someone named Stella Donnely. I always thought the lyrics in that song were directed at Tim Watson, someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Here are some of the lyrics:

Later:
Lyrics:
He's reading sport on the news
White man white teeth in a suit
He's got that style
And then alone in his house
He wants to take baby out
Give us a smile
Boy if you touch her again
I'll tell your wife and your kids
About that time
Cos this is not ninety-three
You lost your spot on the team
You're out of line
I've worked too hard for this chance to not be biting the hand
That feeds the hate
So have a chat to your friends 'cause it's our words that will keep
Our daughters safe
Your personality traits don't count if you put your dick
In someone's face
And no it's never too late, we sat there silently while
You kept your job and your place and your six-figure wage
Oh, are you scared of me, old man?
Or are you scared of what I'll do?
You grabbed me with an open hand
The world is grabbing back at you
Oh, are you scared of me, old man?
Or are you scared of what I'll do?
You grabbed me with an open hand
The world is grabbing back at you
Oh, are you scared of me, old man?
Or are you scared of what I'll do?
You grabbed me with an open hand
The world is grabbing back at you

Also the album is called "Beware of the Dogs".

It could refer to any 1993 premiership winning player with a wife and kids who now moonlights as a sports newsreader, not just Tim Watson.

Bored, did some minutes Sherlocking around...Stella Donnelly grew up in W.A. So maybe someone lost their spot on a W.A. team's list in '93...A list of outs in the '92-'93 off season:

Some interesting names there..'He's reading sport on the news. White man white teeth in a suit'...a couple of names there who have read sport on the news since losing their 'spot on the team' in ninety three...not just the obvious one.

Like I said, I'm bored.

The other is having these 'psuedo-journalists' who are essentially mouthpieces for their old clubs ala timmy the f-wit during the essendon team sanctioned and run doping scandal.

how disgraced drug cheat and incoherent son jobe got a gig as special comments guy on friday night football needs a royal commission.
Can’t even string a sentence together. States the bleeding obvious.

Ah WC delisting Watson in 92 and to think he could have won a flag out west.

Stella born 10 April 1992 in WA.

Essendon v West Coast 27 June 1991.

About 9 months and 2 weeks

Watson retired late 1991 and West Coast drafted him 'just in case' in 1992.

Plausible it's Watson

Am I reading it right that there are accusations of Watson being a diddler?

I was 1 when all this s**t went down and this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Was action ever taken against him or were they just rumours and accusations?

If Caro knows something I'm not sure why she isn't doing her job and going public with it. Probably because she's a journalist and they only care for themselves.
