Apparently the coaching staff has seen enough of our cbs getting roasted time after time in practice by Seth Roberts and Pharaoh Cooper and are desperately scrambling to make a trade or sign a free agent (not that there is anyone out there so expect a trade) in the coming days.

Reports are that all starters are really struggling (especially Pride and Apple), so we could even bring both, a starting nickel and boundary corner.

Shocker. Not.

luckily there are no good receivers in your division..

Reggie Bonnafon and Cam Phillips ( GG.exe ) the most notable cuts.

Was a bit of buzz around WR Ishmael Hyman during camp too, but he as always up against it at our deepest position.

Concerning, is putting it mildly, no idea who at least 3 of these blokes even are

Linebacker (6): Tahir Whitehead, Shaq Thompson, Adarius Taylor, Julian Stanford, Jermaine Carter, Sam Franklin
Whitehead and Thompson will play most of the snaps at linebacker. Carter is back after making five starts for Carolina last year, but Taylor has impressed coaches since rejoining the Panthers in late July. Franklin is one of three undrafted rookies to make the team. He played for Rhule at Temple, appearing in 14 games as a true freshman.
Defensive backs (10): Tre Boston, Donte Jackson, Juston Burris, Troy Pride Jr., Jeremy Chinn, Eli Apple, Corn Elder, Kenny Robinson, Stantley Thomas-Oliver III, Myles Hartsfield
While Chinn is listed as a defensive back, he'll do much more. The Panthers still have not named a starter at cornerback opposite Jackson. However, Pride, Apple, and Elder are known contenders. Draft picks Robinson and Thomas-Oliver provide depth. Robinson, in particular, flashed at times during camp. Hartsfield makes the squad as an undrafted free agent after impressing at both safety and running back during camp, giving him unique versatility

A cornerback finally....

Panthers claimed CB Rasul Douglas off waivers from the Eagles.
Douglas immediately becomes one of the more veteran members of the Panthers' cornerback group. It's a major weakness on one of the NFL's worst defenses on paper, so the former third-round pick has a chance to earn playing time this season.

And we claimed another E-Girl on defense

Panthers claimed DE Shareef Miller off waivers from the Eagles.
Miller is the second waiver claim the Panthers added from the Eagles. The former 2019 NFL Draft fourth-round pick simply couldn't create a spot in the Eagles pass rushing rotation. That should be easier to achieve in Carolina, behind Brian Burns, Stephen Weatherly and Yetur Gross-Matos.

We've been busy boys....shame former XFL safety Kenny Robinson didn't stick, but corner a bigger need obviously. Efe Obada cut to make room for Miller.

One of the interesting stories from training camp ( well to me anyway ) was Will Grier making the roster and us going in with the 3 QBs on the 53.

Reports of him shining in camp actually (I'll believe it when I see it)

As is the case I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 QBs got a game starting this year, particularly if down the stretch we are out of playoff calculations as expected.

Interestingly, Chris Manhertz sits a top our depth chart at TE over Ian Thomas.

Teddy been doing a lot of one on one work with him after practice on route running. Think we plan to use him a lot more a pass catcher compared to the previous coaching staff. Hes easily our best blocking TE.

Chinn named at starting outside linebacker also. Will likely be all over the field like an Isiah Simmons tho. (Named as backup free safety to Tre Boston also)

You see why they call Matt the Football Preacher....@17:28 below. He's got a way with words, but it's his delivery of them that makes him standout.

early start tomorrow morning for the new season.
interested to see what this team can do with a bunch of new faces on either side of the ball.
a really young defense and teddy leading the offence.
its exciting but also scary with the division being so good.

if all fails and this year is a flop, we get trevor lawrence??

We arent out sucking Jacksonville, 0% chance.

Justin Fields would be a nice consolation prize tho.

Having said that, I reckon the offense and Teddy will be sneaky good, we probably still finish in that pick 4- 8 range tho, we could still trade up for a qb if so inclined. Teddy's a pro and an awesome team player. He would happily take a rookie under his wing to teach the ropes to for a season or so if need be.

Yeah that is true, either way in for the ride for season 20/21.
Howd you become a panther fan mate?
