Just on Footy Classified. She's hinted that Eddie will make a big play for Browny again this year.

She is basing this around the time & delay's it is taking Brisbane to sign Browny up.

The "funny season" is starting earlier this year. Who else is out of contract at year's end ?

I watched it and saw NOTHING wrong with what Caro said. She said that with Rocca almost gone, Collingwood are more likely to go after Brown than how Mick has said "we won't touch him." She also added that Eddie would love to nail a big name player for once. Two things that are pretty much accurate.

She wasn't saying that Brown will go to Collingwood, but that Collingwood will see the "delay" in Brown's talks as an opportunity to make a play.

Yeah I thought what she said was legitimate. The longer JB takes to sign on the line the more interested some of the Melbourne clubs are going to become.

What she is saying makes sense. For christ sakes people will find fault in everything she does. Personally I'd rather a journo with a bit of spunk and not a bunch of yes-men like it is in WA. That's why I like to read stuff from Hamo, never fails to entertain.

Didn't bother me what she said.

It probably didn't bother me because I am extremely confident of Browny being a Lion for life.

Very relaxed about it.

can anyone name me one Brisbane Lions Player who has re-signed his contract during the season in the last 10 years. I cannot recall any and if there have been it must be a very very small number.

Hmmm... always suspected Eddie was a bit gay. Now that Caro's confirmed it...

^^^ Leuenberger too.

But yes, when you consider that about 30% of all players are uncontracted at the end of each year, mid-year signings for any club are relatively uncommon.

He'll stay, at this stage he has made absolutely no indication that he is home-sick and/or wanting to come home for any reason. The only possible reason he has of coming home will be financial, and I have never perceived Browny to be greedy.

would have to disagree,

you're speaking to a nicks regular over here :p
Its fun to read.

I like how half the people are Joffa sycophants who worship his every move, and the other half blame him for Collingwood losses and the behavior of the Collingwood cheer squad.

Then there is Dave the Man who is the Oscar Wilde of our time.

Have you ever met Joffa?
IMO Collingwood are smart marketers and publicity merchants by having an instantly recognisable person, that the supporters can connect with.He bleeds for that team and club.

IMO, thats not greed. Players have a very short span of time to make money from football, they are optimising their earnings for their futures. They are not in the workforce as a footballer, earning the big bucks for more than 12 years say.
A lot leave earlier due to injuries or deemed not good enough. A lot have no fall back plan, ie a uni degree or trade. Does Borwny have a degree or trade does anyone know? I can see Browny being a PE Teacher. lol.

To be honest that's just bad planning. To use a real world example, with the car factories slowly shutting down in Australia what happens when the last one goes? If you work there and plan ahead, you have a fall back plan. The same should apply to anyone who's work depends purely on their physical attributes.

from the interviews i have seen with JB i would be very surprised if he was to leave brisbane. he is as loyal as they come. that being said if collingwoods offer(if they offer at all) shits all over brisbanes then that loyalty might be tested! i guess we won't know until seasons end or contracts are signed! wouldn't mind seeing the big fella sharing the forward line wiht neon leon and didak though!

Yeah, but these are young men, or boys even.
A lot during their time with us, are so focused in playing footy, fitness, and all that it takes to get on the field each week, that they dont think past that.

A few are at Uni though.
Cheynee will make a great PE Teacher.
