Toast Carrazzo

Last night was the first time I actually thought Ratten is not the right man to lead us to a flag. Carrazzo was the most damaging player in the league for the first 3 games. Why, would you start Carrazzo off the ball against Hurn o_O

We move Carrazzo to Kerr, mostly shuts him down and is our best player. Ratten is far too reactive with his coaching, we have arguably one of the most talented lists in the AFL and instead of developing our own weapons that other teams should worry about shutting down, we're wasting them on thinking 'how can we minimise the damage'.

I am so glad Carrazzo is back, he's added poise and class to his inside game which is often said as something you either have or you don't. GUN!

It's called easing a player back into his first game. .. It is not new, you let them get used to the tempo before injecting him into the engine room. ..

Not only our best defensively, but his disposal by hand in congestion put the rest of the team to shame. Constantly handballed to the advantage of players in space, allowing us to get a relatively clean disposal. A large improvement on the panicky handballs that have been a feature of our game in recent weeks.
Damn straight.

I've always been a fan of Carrots but even I'm surprised how good his hands can be in tight. Ball magnet and extremely clever player in a contested situation. Yet the bloke can stop his man at the same time. His super hard work over the years is really rewarding him as a player and us as a team.

I hope some others take a leaf out of Andy's book.

Funny how quickly things can change. We were all calling for his head sometime ago and putting him up as trade bait.
He is a very important cog in our search for 17. Also of note, becoming a father has not hindered his footbal...

He may just be our best player

And triplets no less. He's gone about it very professionally indeed and hasn't let it affect his mindset and fitness.

Great to hear Carrots getting his just display of effection from supporters. Last year I sat in the AFL members surrounded by Carlton supporters and was disgusted with what was being said about him

It's really refreshing to know that other supporters really appreciate his work.

Carrots deserves so much praise for where he has got to as an AFL player. It is very clear that he has worked hard on his game to improve his foot & hand skills, as well as getting his fitness to an elite level. The most important thing that Carrots has done though is to realise his limitations & work within them. He is not going to try & finesse, or do the impossible. He plays the percentages & wherever possible feeds the ball to a better user or at least to our advantage.

I am so pleased that he has taken his game to a whole new level & would hope that he eventually gets recognition, not just within our club, but across the AFL community generally, because he has become possibly the 3rd or 4th most important player at our club.

As i said in last years review would be first picked for me! most important player in our teams structure. I would honestly make him captain for his leadership qualities. It's no coincidence we lose a lot more without him in our team, the last few years loss column with him out is much higher!

Yeah OK, I had that coming.

...backpedal backpedal

I am not trying to look down on the mighty Collins, haha. But I do love Carrazzo, such a great clubman.

Not sure I would play him in the vfl this week his fitness looked fine vs eagles.

I would hope they pick warnock and hampson in the twos as they need to find form.

How the world changes...... doesn't seem that long ago that Carrots was held up as being one of those likely to be traded/delisted or given just a real bad rap on this board.....now look at him..... out with a pretty bad injury coinciding with our poor performance and now he's back and almost gets us over the line against the top team, away, with a pretty much BOG performance.......watch us march back from here!!!!

I think if you asked anyone a couple years ago that Andrew Carrazzo could be so integral to the entire team they would have completely dismissed it, but now...the proof is in the pudding.

To be fair back then his disposal was an issue but it was also a matter of how he was being played and he himself acknowledging his limitations. It's a real credit to Carrots to play to his strengths and the MC now utilizing him in his best role and we know he's always been a hard working and ultimate team player.

My one criticism of Carrots was his disposal or more over thinking it. .. When he plays on and does it instinctually it works, as soon as he has time (ie. mark/free kick) he tried to do too much (more than his skill allows). .. I think he has fixed this part and the rest is natural progression and confidence, kudos to whoever helped if overcome this. ..
