Mobs

This is the 4th time I have watched it now & still have no idea, I don't think even Peter Weir knew when he made it. I only watch it cause I get a good laugh.:D

When I first saw it, it scared the **** out of me. It still does, except now it's for a crappy film making reason! Much like 'Plan 9 From Outer Space'. Special effects heaven there.

How old were you when you first saw it, I was 14 & laughed myself sick.:D I think that was the first Aussie movie that I saw which probably is the reason why I am hesitant in watching any Aussie movies, bad acting, bad producing etc etc.

Well ... I used to hide behind the beanbag during Doctor Who ...

I thought that, apart from Camilleri, the acting was ok ... but I felt the Weir was having a little fun with an in-joke : you know, holding back on fully explaining character intention, deliberately, perhaps for more wonderment.

I actually saved my home from burning down because I was scared of Doctor Who. I left the loungeroom (where my sister and brother were calling me names cos I was scared) and came into the kitchen to see one of mum's potholders, which she'd left on the oven's handle, on fire. So I called out to mum, she put out the fire, and we had to get a new oven (with handles you couldn't hang stuff on). True Story.

Mantis, if like me you're a fan of bad Aussie films, you must check The FJ Holden. It's about a bloke living in Bankstown in Sydney in the late 1970s. It fits in the so bad, that it is good category. It shows up on SBS every now and again.

I just had a great idea, suggested by lioness' new signature. Olmy, can I quote you on that? (ie use this as my new signature.)

You're quite welcome to use any of that as your signature, although I'm not exactly sure what you're planning.

I have a new signature too.

Cheers for that Rusty I will keep an eye out for it, might even try my video store to see if they have it.

Have you seen "Houseboat Horror", that is another shocker.:D

I have a copy of FJ Holden here, it even has Frankie himself in the movie!

The scene sitting on the bonnet with the D&M between the two blokes was grouse.

I also have a copy of Houseboat Horror.

But, bad aussie movies, there's better : Sky Pirates and Outback Vampires are a couple I recommend to yers. Sky Pirates is still in a few video stores.

And for a kiwi movie of the same ilk, try 'Running from the guns!'

Right on about the scene on the bonnet, Mobbenfuhrer. Bob and Kev's showstealing dialogue while looking very legitimately drunk is great.

You've whetted my appetite with those other films. Sky Pirates here I come.

Yep, with Vernon Wells.

We all know that Lynda Stoner and Noel Ferrier were the real stars of that movie. ;)
