more perspective, Phillip Hughes has died:(
Just terrible news.

Thoughts with his family friends and especially Sean Abbot who would be going through hell right at this moment.
I hope you will excuse my intrusion on to your board at this time.

The tragic news of Phil Hughes passing really does put whatever happened at Essendon into perspective, it's peripheral to the really important things in life.

Well said rumply and DapperDon my heart goes out to his family and loved ones and there's a lot of sympathy for Sean Abbott from me.

I'll leave you in peace now.

Thanks I'm not much of a cricket fan but Phil Hughes passing hits home to me on a deeply personal issue.

I've sparred with quite a few of you over the Essendon stuff and just wanted to express agreement with the thoughts of rumply and DapperDon.

I was also deeply offended by the recent disgusting remarks made by some idiot concerning RoCo's brother - some things are just off limits.

Certain events just completely transcend sagas like this, and all tribal lines that have been drawn with it.

This is one of them. It's not the thread for the Phil Hughes tragedy to be discussed in detail but it is absolutely undeniable that something like this happening just leaves you with the heaviest lump of molten in the stomach. Just gutting. And also leaves everyone reflecting that, for all the mental energy so many have spent hurling abuse and trawling codes for knowledge, all for the purpose of scoring a petty point or two in a saga in a game of footy...

Saga? What saga?

At least we're all still alive.

****.

And Caro has been chief footy writer for nearly 15 years. She must have the confidence of a few.
What's your point? She is still allowed to be accountable for her actions, you are assuming she has the confidence of a few.

Caro is not a protected specie because she has been in a role for 15 years - laughable.

I disagree. Are we allowed to do that anymore on BF?

If a poster is vocal and passionate in his overt dislike of our club and the posters on this board, what then prompts this chap to post his feelings and thoughts with the group he so despises as though they may actually give a **** what his opinions are?

Perhaps it's just me, but I have no inclination to discuss the untimely and tragic death of Phil Hughes with the Norf board, Caro, Josef Fritzl or anyone else I wouldn't piss on.

I will retain a sense of scepticism, but there's some compelling stuff and that's the last thing I'll say on the matter, because Beerfish is right
I have always loved Bruce Francis's stuff. However, in that thread he's stated that he used to work for Alan Jones and Kerry Packer free of charge. So this leads me to believe there may be a fair bit of anti-Labor embellishing going on.

He's planning to put it all together as a book.

I'm starting to wonder if he is to this saga what Ian Plimer is to climate change.

Also shocked about Hughes. I feel terribly for his family who were at the ground and for all of the players who witnessed it up close. The photo of him lying on the pitch will haunt me for a while.

What I am saying is that journalists survive on the 'strength of their sources.' Journalists die once their lose their sources. What I am saying is that Caro's story on the payment of Bomber Thompson's fine is a non-issue - It's like people making James Hird an election issue for the upcoming election - They are both utterly unimportant - And reading through Bruce Francis' thread on BB shows not to believe what you read or hear through the media.

For those that haven't read it yet, the Bruce Francis letter to Patrick Smith is a must.
I really feel that the constant insults diminish his work. They arent nessasary when the facts themselves carry the most weight and are more of an insult to the likes of PSmith

I agree somewhat, but I put myself in his position (as best I could) & if I had been ignored time & time again by these people, who lets face it have failed horribly in their reporting of this saga, then I might find that attack is the only way to get their attention & at least get some sort of response out of them. That's just my take on why he writes they way he has.

So I dont really have a problem with it, they deserve all the derision they get afaiac.

Yeah true, i dont think it reflects him as a person, but it doesnt help spread his message. This information needs to be seen but people will turn their nose up if all they read is snide comments.
Just thinking from a outsiders view he just sounds likea disgruntled essendon supporter.
