That damning hour of listening sums up exactly how predictable this whole debacle was always going to be.

The major influencing factors of the investigation 2 years later are:

1. AFL corruption and overwhelming desire to control outcomes.
2. Government incompetence.

Burnside QC comments and glowing praise of Hird very interesting given his inside knowledge.

Does anyone have a summary for those of us who are working?
In a thread called "ASADA case against Essendon hanging by a thread (The Age, 1 Nov 14)" an almost full account of the Tracy Holmes interviews is provided by a poster named GG. It is spread over many separate GG posts. Well worth the read.

Sounds like wada are full of shit themselves. But are atl east smart to keep there opinions to themselves until necessary. Well ever since Fahey left that is.
There's barely a scribe in town who still thinks Essendon will be found guilty of anything at this tribunal hearing. Even the most staunch of ambulance chasers - like Caro - now believe ASADA are wasting their time.

There's little doubt it will get one. This saga has been a huge embarrassment for them from day 1.
True

I liked how Ingis said it's hard for Athletes to keep track of what a drugs are banned or not when there are so many that are banned the system needs to be simple and fair for Athletes to understand.

fair bit in there, def worth a listen, comments I found most interesting were that there is a more balanced approach from WADA since Fahey was replaced, the American sports union guy commenting on the violation of player rights & the differences between the WADA/Sporting Body systems most have compared to many US Sports that manage all that themselves & thus player rights are clearly defined, very different to the privacy abuses Cronulla & Essendon players have been subjected to. & the comments of Burnside, politely blasting the '2 journalists' who were fed leaks from the AFL throughout to help push the AFL agenda, not that anyone with at least one functioning brain cell didn't already know that, & also praising Hird for his performance seeing as he has been gagged throughout.

Good stuff from Tracey.

Tracey is clearly wrong.

Caro and Smith did not get fed any leaks from the AFL.

That's because there were no leaks from the AFL - Mike Fitzpatrick told us so, and he's the man in charge, so he would know.

That's the same Mike Fitzpatrick who signed off on the arrangement with James Hird that left out a really important stipulation regarding whether Hird would be paid or not while he was on leave. Conclusion: Fitzpatrick has a poor attention to detail.

Or Fitzpatrick wasn't fussed about Hird being paid (it may even have been an unofficial condition that Hird demanded as part of 'accepting' the penalties last year).
