I like the french theme..
The trip to France, part of Hird's suspension package to coerce him into abdicating his role as supreme Emperor of Essendon, was to pay for some of his studies...in...Fontainebleau
This all happened quite strangely precisely 200 years ago and runs almost parallel to the events of the last two years. Napoleon was exiled for almost all of 1814 until he grew tired of being cut off from his wife and son. He returned in 1815 and approached the French troops unarmed and said that they could kill him if they wanted, but the troops rallied behind him and said "Long Live the Emperor!!" He returned to being emperor of France in March 1815
Throughout this period, the congress of Vienna declared Napoleon an outlaw and gathered troops from all over to bring him down....
And let's hope this is where the stories diverge because they did in June or July of that year... And also Napoleon was kind of a campaigner
