I wouldn't be so sure.

ASADA and WADA have shown themselves to be completely unable to handle a case like this.

Most importantly for the AFL they've lost a lot of control of this which is the thing they fear the most.

Going it alone re anti doping would be an easy sell to the public after this debacle.
Has to happen the AFL cant risk something like this again.

What sickens me the most about the returning of this saga (aside from the players being potentially banned) is that the low lives on the HTB now have a second wind and have found meaning in their stupid lives.
Never seen a more desperate bunch of people in my life it's a disgrace.

Just don't read it. It's a simple solution.

I don't see what will change with the appeal to be honest. The evidence provided by ASADA wasn't enough. The panel unanimously agreed that they weren't comfortably satisfied and it wasn't close according to reports.

It really does have a political stench about it. But then again, I don't see how WADA would appeal without grounds. Maybe a touch of desperation? It seems like a case of no turning back for ASADA since they've heavily invested in this case.
Simple. Wada was unhappy with interference.from.both governments, EFC taking ASADA to court, pressure.from olympic sport, joint investigation with the AFL etc.

THis is a witch hunT AND.payback time

What stands out to me so far is that Hird and Co seem to have been blindsided (as was expressed by Hird last night) Didn't expect this at all. Surely if they thought there may even be just a hint of incriminating evidence they might have entertained the thought that WADA would do this.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this, probably have, but what I find interesting about WADA going over the top is that they have no interest in the AFL at all, or what they want. Now, if any of those crazy conspiracy theories about the AFL being involved with tipping us off about the investigation, or, worse, that they made a deal with us to use us as a scapegoat, are remotely true, then the AFL will be shitting themselves far more than Essendon. IF those are true and the player group ends up being guilty to WADA, I doubt the club will go down alone.

I still don't know why this whole bad book keeping thing keeps being made an issue.

I'm sure if the "bad book keeping" had tb4 all over it they wouldn't be saying it lacks credibility.

Anyway this is about whether they took tb4 not how bad the book keeping was.

Book keeping does not count for sh#t.

Armstrong kept immaculate records. Just conveniently left off anything that was banned.

If Bombers were truly being deceitful and had a highly organised performance enhancing program, they would have done similar to Armstrong.

Don't get me wrong, I hope the AFL detaches from ASADA but I can't see it sacrificing millions of government funding. I hope I am wrong, and if they do walk away the AFL - kudos to them.

Can't help thinking that the WADA action is a vendetta against Essendon for rightfully fighting for their innocence.

"One of the arbitrators will be named by the president of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Appeals Division, former Swiss skier Corinne Schmidhauser."

How could anybody trust this person to not support WADA 100% and blindly say they are comfortably satisfied despite of the lack of evidence.

The cost would have gone way beyond the $21 million they receive from the Government.

Imagine the fallout if the players are suspended for 2 years and the team is non functional.

"Former World Anti-Doping Agency boss John Fahey believes the likelihood of Essendon footballers serving longer suspensions for banned drug use has increased due to "certain people with big egos and fat wallets".
While the former NSW premier, who left WADA last year, did not name names, he made his pointed comments to Fairfax Media after Essendon and James Hird failed in their joint Federal Court challenge of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.

So when do we see a 'smart journalist' go and seek out Robinson and ask the question?
Dean Robinson? I doubt he can say anything as he would have signed a confidentially agreement when he was payed out. He should be getting the same treatment as Dank, after all he was injecting his 32 weeks old pregnant wife.

I agree with your first point. The second point, I don't want to think about!!
