It's an interesting comment from Xavier. That players are likely not to miss any matches even with a guilty verdict.

This might indicate that the players have grounds for backdating even a 2 year suspension.

Either that, or it is obviously exaggerated for PR reasons.

The interesting question to me is if the past year since the WADA appeal can be backdated through delays that cannot be attributed to the players. They played according to the not guilty verdict.

Obviously the provisional suspensions are included in the backdating.

whilst I don't necessarily disagree, I wouldn't be putting any store by what Campbell or Little say in the slightest

i'm not talking about public policy
every single person i know that has taken drugs, has either been adversely affected by them, and/or regretted taking them.
hence my statement/view that drugs 'can' **** you up. not only that, as an AFL footballer, it is 'possible' to test positive to a performance enhancing drug, whilst 'only' taking an illicit drug.

you guys can discuss public policy, and advantages/disadvantages of decriminalising drugs all you like. i have no interest discussing that topic on a football forum.
Except pills though yeah? Surely no one has ever regretted their first pill?! The subsequent desperate increases in dosage in order to "recapture" the feeling is quite another story

I'll be very surprised if we have a result by Christmas.

Pills have also gotten much shitter than what they were in the 90's.

We can thank the Gangland Wars for the diminishing pill quality. The Morans may have been absolute campaigners, but they knew how to press.

oh I dunno about that. I regretted "coming to" in the early hours of the 1st Jan 1996 in an alley way somewhere near The Lounge with a rather large and not hugely attractive girl trying but not really succeeding to minister to my nether regions

So what you're saying is you should have had another pill before coming to? ;)

If we are found guilty - I would expect that there would have to be a penalty of sorts administered. There's not many arbitrations that I know of who don't have a punishment, when you're found to have broken the rules.

On the other hand, if this makes sense, I would hate for WADA, ASADA or the AFL to come out and get a guilty verdict and administer no penalty; just for the sake of "getting their men". That would piss me off no end - but in a round about way, it would comfortably tie off all the loose ends for the AFL and the Government.

I just can't see, if there is a non guilty verdict, how there can't be a Royal Commission on how things got to where they did. Millions in tax payers money has been wasted on a poorly run case - that needs to be explained in out in the open. This may also portray the AFL in a horrible light with sticking their noses in where it was never meant to be.

AD would just have to be upset that he could no longer be the sitting member for Mooney Ponds.

Royal commissions are expensive AF, and no one cares enough

This is definitely not something I'd want more tax payer money wasted on with a royal commission. Royal commissions are for important stuff.

It's not really surprising a government department has wasted money. It happens every day, imagine they did a royal commission every time money get wasted, we'd be a 3rd world country.

A guilty verdict would be a horrible result regardless of whether or not players serve suspensions.

Can't see it happening, two of the country's most respected judges couldn't be that wrong. Just a save face by WADA to protect ASADA future funding. Going to be a lot of disappointed posters on HTB who have devoted a disturbingly large amount of their lives on this.

Wasn't it stated that the AFL will push for no penalty if found guilty due to the delays and mitigating circumstances. And WADA would only be pushing for a few weeks...possibly preseason....

I know we were supposed to let go judging by the oddballs at the forum, but it doesn't sound like good news for him. Rumours of health concerns or costing his family or something floating around. Being a supporter of this club I understand that rumours don't count for much these days, but this could get real sad. The worst part is that the mouthbreathers will cackle and call it a success. To break a man who refused to break. I hope this is all false and it's just some media ******* looking for retweets though. The end to this can't come quick enough.
