Personally I can't believe the fact that COLA has been scraped gets less attention that EFC..

Finally we might actually get a level playing field but barely a mention.. no analysis of whether the Buddy contract was the end of COLA and so forth.. nope just more and more about EFC and a complete non-issue.. so sick of it.

As an aside.. how pumped to see Sydney finally suffer for their arrogance.. how they thought no one would notice two huge signings without questioning the 10% bonus they were getting is beyond me..

They better hope he is Buddy fantastic for the price!!

Just seen the cronulla sharks ban stick.....Why did they get less than us? what did they do right or wrong? just seemed that we really got the short straw on this one.....I really didn't follow their saga at all, did anyone?, because never have i heard of talks that infractions could be sanctioned or whatever? or is that still to come?

Someone please enlighten me

As far as i know the sharks are one of the poorest clubs in the NRL, and got sanctions to go with that so not to put them out of business, kinda like how the demons got done for fixing games but got bugger all fines..

ASADA aren't finished with them yet...

I'm on the gold coast and we get news on both codes and no s***, whenever the sharks saga is in the news it gets ignored, not talked about too much AT ALL...

This just shows me that the NRL/NRL MEDIA are looking out for their clubs as much as possible for the fans and it will be forgotten quick, where as we got hung out to dry and more.

I live in Sydney and can assure you that the Sydney media have been far more supportive of the Sharks than their Melbourne counterparts.

Hi gang... Reporting for season duty and militant support... I see nothings changed with the fascination and poppie slaying syndrome towards our great team so I say bring it on and the more hate I sense from the missguided the more I will love my team... Jimmy will be back and even more butts are going to be inflamed.... So go the Bombers :D

I'm not sure if it would stop ASADA issuing infraction notices ... though it could be challenged (in court) afterwards though. There is already a fair case to say that the whole process has been compromised and this is just one aspect of it.
This is my thought. Unless there is a smoking gun ( which has remained under the radar ) it appears that any infraction notices will be based on circumstantial eveidence. Now if this is is challenged in court considering the unusualness of the investigation it may make for interesting reading.

Where is the morality in humiliating the wives and children of famous men who have had affairs or more generally in chasing up every private detail of the lives of famous people?

This issue is so much bigger than what has happened to our players. Some time ago what was "interesting to the public" replaced the "public interest" as the guideline for publication and journalism has hardly played a meaningful role in society since.

But Joe Bloggs and his mates are happy for it to be that way and it is much too late to say that a publication based on what is of interest to voyeuristic readers ought not be published where publication is legal simply because it is "immoral". It rules out half of what appears in the paper each day.
Newspapers will have to extend the pages in each of the publications to cover all immoral news. It's not just the media - Joe and Mary Average walk around with smart phones, see a well known person in a compromising, presto take a pic. In the past Joe or Mary would keep Mum about this information, but now their is indecent haste to send it to hundreds of friends, and then notify the media. I suppose we have a society where everyone wants their '15 minutes of fame'.

Question

We know that players are stood down when infraction notices are issued - It then may take months to organise a hearing - What ahppens if the tribunal gives players a suspended sentence/reprimand - Then players could have missed the best part of a season.

Anyone know when Saad received his infraction notice? Positive B-sample in August, suspension in November.

It depends on what the infraction notice is for.

If the infraction notice is only for a 'specified substance' (such as AOD-9604), there is no automatic stand-down.
Yes but a specified substance is not how it sounds. AOD may qualify, but it probably doesn't. A specified substance is quite different to merely a substance that's known - not saying you don't necessarily know this by the way

If an infraction notice is issued on the basis that AOD-9604 falls under section S0 of the anti-doping code, then AOD-9604 would definitely be a Specified Substance, because all S0 substances are Specified Substances.

From the AFL anti-doping code:

All Prohibited Substances shall be considered as “Specified Substances” except Substances
in classes S1, S2.1 to S2.5, S.4.4 and S6.a, and Prohibited Methods M1, M2 and M3.

Put another way, there's no immediate stand-down for AOD-9604, unless it's considered to fall under one of those classes listed above (which no-one from ASADA, WADA or the AFL has publicly suggested as yet AFAIK).

Yes, I got what he was saying, but it's a really delusive comment.
The comment was in jest about the general view of a lot of footy fans and as per our penalties the view of the AFL last year, which was (and remains in the eyes of the foamers) that we are guilty and must prove our innocence. I know it isn't directly related to your point about IN's and positive samples etc and that our case is that our players are technically innocent until proven guilty in the absence of positive samples.
