Do you have a link to what he said? I hadn't heard anything
tucked away at the end of a brief article in The Age:

Lyon expressed support for suspended Essendon coach James Hird, who bore the brunt of the AFL's wrath over the supplements scandal.

''Our whole philosophy is to support the person and change the behaviour,'' he said. ''For mine, James is clearly a really good person, and there's a lot of really good people at Essendon. But there were some actions and behaviour that needed to be challenged. And I think that has been challenged, and everyone is moving ahead.''

I am a richmond supporter but I am not here to troll.

I am interested to see if this saga has tainted any Dons supporters views of anyone. James Hird was a saint for the club but has anyone's opinion of him changed at all. Has it detracted from his brilliant playing days? For example if this was Richo in Hirds position I am not sure how the tiger faithful will react (we all have an air of bitterness about the club).

Or has this saga made people question the board and the administration side of the club with how this went on?

One last question is that the general consensus from other supporter groups is that it seems that essendon has cheated, do you as supporters believe the club has cheated? or do you feel the club has been cheated by the AFL's policy of deal making instead of outright punishment?

Your previous post from your own board

I have 2 outcomes I wish to come out of this.

I want any players that have been caught to have taken any drugs banned by WADA to be out for + 6 months. It just has to happen as that is what the rules say. From that I want some players to in turn sue that smug bastard hird/essendon for for not acting in good faith and a breach of a duty of care given by those two entities.

Second I want Jobe to keep his brownlow. I really do but what I want is for him to have a little asterisk placed next to his name. I want his name to be there for the long records with a little asterisk reading "*whilst on banned substances". That is a greater shame than just having it taken from him because then it is immortalised for ever how he cheated.
**** off out of this thread.

If you asked many at the moment what a peptide actually is, chances are the answer you would likely get would be "what Essendon took!" and "drugs!"

Some probably still don't get that many peptides are naturally occurring, such has been the overuse of the word.
Aminos...no drama...although aminos is now a dirty word....I tried them to build guns...didn't work! :p

One thing that is seriously shitting me is that all and sundry are STILL going on about the peptides used in the supplements program.

FFS, has there been any other word misused so much across the globe since this story broke than "peptides".

I guess they can't say "banned substances" so they have to stick with referring to peptides as a big scary buzz word when people would be surprised if they had any capacity for independent research/thought.
I saw an infomercial for some face cream with peptides in it the other night. This aroused my suspicion, I thought my nans arms looked a lot bigger than they did last bingo season.

Doing sports law this semester at uni. Guess what the main topic will be over the course of the 12 weeks? Yup, this rubbish.

Lecturer already thinks Hird was banned for 'being a drug cheat' and that the players are 'drug cheats' and that all 'drug cheats' deserve 'life bans'. Called him out on it and asked for his proof and why players haven't been banned yet, then he just said something along the lines of 'what about that Mexican stuff'.

Room was tense and had to stop myself haha. Expecting it to be a long semester, especially when your homework tasks are to read the Switskowski report and the charge sheet (the original one, not the new one...) and one of your major assignments is to argue whether or not James Hird should be paid.

To be honest, I would love to be in that class. Love the Bombers and love a good argument with lecturers who know less than I do...

Maybe last year, yeah it would be interesting. But I just want it to be all over and it's the last thing I want to talk about. I've read this thread once or twice since last year because I'm sick of it, whereas last year if I was on my laptop I was reading this thread. The main topic isn't actually Essendon, it's James Hird and how he's such a horrible human being. May as well call the subject "The Studies of James Hird".

Told him I was a member, got asked if I had a standbyhird poster and if I still supported him. Said yes and explained why and his response was "You've made me speechless, I didn't expect you to be so honest, I fully expected you to pretend that you didn't support him or the club".

You should have said to him, "We're Essendon supporters, not Richmond supporters".

Are you serious. I have enough issues with Auskadi a lecturer spouting off like a two bob watch. I always though the lecturers are supposed to look at both sides of the issue - Isn't this critical reasoning/analysis.

I know the feeling. Last year during management & leadership classes my lecturer (along with other lecturers) sometimes referred to this saga with stuff involving governance, contingency planning and just the whole media view/banter on the 'omg teh drugz doe" hype. The worst part was when we were discussing Machiavellianism and James Hird was pretty much the subject topic of being some form of a "cunning, duplictious, selfish and cold" person. All I felt like doing was just laughing under my breath at that point, considering someone like Andrew Demetriou had that in absolute spades and he never got a single mention. It just got ridiculous.
