Perhaps ASADA are waiting to sort out the EFC case first, especially as there may be legal precedents coming out of it.

They may also be further advanced with their process with EFC given that EFC cooperated with the investigation, unlike Cronulla.
I strongly suggest that the Cronulla investigation is done - And the Cronulla case was more straight-forward than the Essendon case - At least in terms of the investigation.

If ASADA had a rock solid case then McDoodleburger wouldn't have offered six month discounts. Public servants go for the throat.
Agreed. ASADA are known in legal circles for being incredibly ruthless with the scalps they get. They don't get a high number of cases, so when they do, they do whatever they can to ensure funding for future budgets.

Look at Ahmed Saad's case as a recent example. He endorsed and consumed an energy drink which featured an ingredient that though legal during the week, is prohibited on match day. While Saad is obviously at fault for checking if the drink was okay with club doctors, the fact that he was endorsing the drink demonstrates that he was not consuming the drink to cheat.
Yes, Saad should have been suspended, but 18 months (which the tribunal only gave because they were afraid any lower suspension would prompt an ASADA [or WADA] appeal) is ridiculous for such a small offence.

They did a similar thing with that VFL player a few years back, who's original suspension of 9 months was then made into 24 months.

What I'm saying is, they're ******* arseholes.

ASADA still appealed Saad's suspension and lost.

If they had a clear cut case on TB4 they'd be going for the full 2 year ban as well, not fishing.

Exactly. This is the reason why our players would be ******* dumb to accept the six month ban that idiots in the media and McDropkick suggest, as it's almost certain ASADA would then change their minds at the last second and use the admission of guilt as a reason for a 2 year ban

I think there is some Ess supporters that would back Hird even if players were suspended.

I think that is a minority though, I think for most it is a condition that no suspension eventuates. If it does there is a bigger cleanout than just Hird.
Count me in as one who would support Hird even if players are suspended.
It is simple. Hird did no wrong. Players suspensions, or not, will depend on what Dank did or didn't do, and ASADA's ability to prove it to a tribunal's "comfortable satisfaction".

Irrespective of the twists and turns in the prosecution of charges against the players, and the eventual outcome, Hird did no wrong.
He trusted Dank and Robinson to do what he, and others, instructed them to do - implement a cutting edge, legal and safe sports science program. I don't hold him responsible if they failed to adhere to the legal part.

I cannot agree at all, in any way.

Even if only one player were to be suspended, hird cannot return as coach of the club.

In saying that, didn't hird or Thompson say that if players received IN that resulted in suspensions, they would not stay on as coaches?

I wouldn't blame Hird in that sense, but I think there would be too much fallout if players got IN (and they stuck), it would follow him forever.

There is no logic in that statement.
Why can't he?
I have given my reasoning why he should not be held responsible for any suspensions. But you don't give any as to why he should.

This*1000

Another media led bloodthirst that has hoodwinked everyone.

He's a man of the utmost integrity and we stick by our own. They should all stay and repay the club with a flag. They are the best at their jobs.

More to the point; I think Hird would walk if one player received an IN.

I have edited my post slightly to how I wanted it to read.

As head coach who wanted a supplement program at the club, he holds ultimate responsibility for its downfall if a player were to receive an IN that led to a suspension.

If INs actually are delivered and players suspended, the entire football department from 2012 is gone.
I think this is why purple flog is adamant neither Hird or bomber will be at the club next year. He's still praying for IN's as any standard media hack/Norf flog is.

So players get suspended and they would support Hird as coach - It's possible seeing that they would move to other clubs.

But I am referring to if the Federal Court action doesn't deliver a knockout blow - ASADA revisit and re-issues SC's.
I doubt we will have a compete knockout of the investigation, IMO. Reading various arguments they may knock a lot of key evidence out whether ASADA reopen, or the govt fund teh investigation re opening is a different matter.
