2nds Casey Demons 2019 Discussion

Sorry forgot to put up a thread for our seconds.

Just like us last year they're playing just like us this year. Done in by 62pts by Box Hill to start the season

I watched most of the game.

Stretch and Chandler looked good.

Pretty meh everyone else, Tim Smith ok I guess
how do you watch it in Canada?

Garlett 18 touches 3 goals not sure how many tackles.

About time. Don't subscribe to the theory that it's too hard for small forwards in the VFL - the bloke is lightning quick and has the skills, he should be able to impact any game as long as he pulls his finger out. Will be a nailed on In next week, lets hope he replicates the effort.

1-2 more games like that for Garlett and then he comes in for mine. Happy with how Chandler is tracking too. Could come into consideration at some point if our crumbing forwards aren't producing enough.

Where's that ledge who goes for Sydney who provides our VFL stats?

Grimlock, I think it was, but from memory he changed jobs or something came up last year and he wasn't going to be doing the stats.

Stats are meaningless if it doesn't translate well from VFL to AFL level.

Yes, but its good to see that stats to see who is banging on the door and who can't cut the mustard at that level. 40 touches in the VFL doesn't mean they'll make a good AFL player, but 10 touches is a pretty good sign they won't make it.

So Garlett needs 12 goals 20 tackles and hes in boy. Cant understand how Preuss or Melksham made the grade

Exactly. It seems so arbitrary.

Garlett has a great game in the 2s, the seniors are crying out for a good pacey, flashy crumbing forward, but 'oh yeah nah he only had one good game, another 400 goals for Casey should do it.'

Then next week it'll be blowing a gale and raining at Werribee or somewhere, he'll kick 1 goal from a total of 7 that the team kicks that day, and lay 3 tackles from 8 touches in total and it'll be 'oh see? He's just not in form so we better put Lockhart in, who has been on the senior list for 3 seconds and has absolutely 0 credits in the bank.'

We might as well just send him out to pasture or pay his contract out/put him on the long term injury list and draft a player in the midyear thing (I have no idea if we can do this or not). If he can't get a game for us now with all these injuries and a decent hitout in the VFL, he is never getting another game for us so just bite the bullet.

For all those thinking that Keilty could come in and play key defence he's literally playing forward in this
