2nds Casey Demons 2019 Discussion

Yeh I agree but I’m also a fan of the philosophy of rewarding players in form.

JKH has played a few good games in a row now.

Anyway it will depend on what opportunities present.
I think JKH can improve a lot with continued hard work and opportunities. Just as ANB did when he was entering AFL games. I see JKH as an improvemnent over ANB, in the future. He's better skilled.

JKH is a year older, 10 centimeters shorter and has played 30 odd less games. I think if we were going to see it from him, it'd have happened by now. He's gotten a fair shake. Every now and again he shows a few flashes of being a solid AFL player but when you're short and not particularly quick, got to have more to your game than just trying hard.

Not sure I agree entirely with you here.

We know what to expect from JKH at senior level and he’s been around long enough to have completed the majority of his growth.

I’d pick him over any of the unproven youth in the second half of the year based on his Casey form though.

Maybe the exception of the last few rounds if we are mathematically out of finals.

ANB - Age: 23yr 5mth Games: 66 Born: January 9, 1996 Height: 182cm Weight: 80kg https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--alex-neal-bullen

JKH - Age: 24yr 3mth Games: 35 Born: March 21, 1995 Height: 173cm Weight: 75kg https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--jay-kennedy-harris

I sense JKH will overtake ANB, with his tenacity and commitment. Just my opinion.

I don't. When his contract is up, I'd imagine that'll be that for JKH. When you're behind the likes of fresh draftees like Baker, Spargo, Sparrow, etc, not much chance he finds a spot in the side now.

Lockhart is my new favourite of the small but not super fast group of tryers we have (ANB, Spargo, JKH, Stretch)

He's got a few tricks the others don't
He's a straight up gun. None of those players are at all similar though.

We need to keep a little bit of depth. If JKH earns another year, and the Wagners do too, I'm okay with that.

I would hang onto JKH as depth if he was willing. He proved me wrong in the back end of last year where I thought he would be really exposed but he stood up pretty well.

I think we should impose some kind of quota limiting us to one Wagner though

The only thing JKH will overtake ANB in is being delisted. Seriously wtf do you watch JKH is trash will surely be gone at years end

We don’t actually have too many players to delist this year (surprisingly), so you might be right about JKH at years end.

I’d happily re-rookie him though. Good quality players in the Casey side are important for the young guys to play with.

They're similar in that they're all small and deficient in too many areas so get moved around the HFF/FP/Wing positions. ANB has played the most high level AFL games but has completely lost his mojo. Spargo is having 2nd year blues and his hurt factor is really minimal at the moment. Stretch is essentially a non factor these days and has been tried in a number of positions without any effect this year - lost all confidence and is indecisive as they come now. JKH is a tease and is sloppy by foot.

We can't keep them all on our list as they dont have enough weapons. No genuine pace or elite disposal between any of them and that's exactly what we need. They're symptomatic of our list though, good honest tryers, competitors, good blokes.

Need some more mercurial types but dont think Goody is the kind of coach to ever take a bloody risk. I'd give our first pick this year for Sydney Stack for example, hes exactly what we need.

Thats a really good point, and thats before you even consider the "strong wind at a suburban ground" factor ... do you think he can play inside mid?
Definitely. That is to say I would thoroughly enjoy seeing it attempted.
