Casey DEMONS

Just read on Twitter that Casey are dropping the Scorpions logo and nickname from 2017 onwards and will basically wear the Melbourne FC strip with the letters S.F.C. at the top of the back of the jumper as lip service to Springvale Football Club.

Combined with the loss of Frankston, impending loss of North Ballarat and similar merger/alignment of St Kilda and Sandringham, the VFL is quickly moving towards becoming the Victorian AFL Reserves once again.

Look out Coburg, Port and Willy.

Another one bites the dust, the old Springvale had a rich history and certainly was a force specially in the 90's.

Shattered. They don't realise that these VFL clubs have history that is being destroyed one by one.
Why not leave the clubs alone, every AFL club have a VFL team playing against the stand alone teams. Maybe in a 2 division promotion/relegation league.

Seriously though, how relevant is the history of an ex-VFA club which chooses to cosy up in an alignment with an AFL entity to the board of that ex-VFA club?

Obviously not much as it's clear now you align to survive on your knees than die on your feet.

Sandringham will be next, they'll become the Sandy Saints, Werribee will become the Kangaroos (both akin to the Northern Blues, Box Hill Hawks, Casey Demons) then we await the demise of those who returned to stand alone in North Ballarat, probably Coburg when AFL Victoria jack up VFL affiliation fees, and for political reasons alone Port and Willy.

What a mess!
