At AUSTAR Arena.

The Saints players that gained a mention in the best for the Casey Firsts were Andrew Thompson, Raphael Clarke and Fergus Watts. Sweeney and McQualter were amongst the goals with seven between them.

Coburg Tigers scored a strong 25-point home win against the competitive Frankston yesterday.

Midfielder Greg Tivendale kicked four goals for Coburg and should soon be back playing in the AFL.

So, too, should St Kilda veteran Andrew Thompson, who had 47 possessions:eek: (29 kicks, 18 handballs) for Casey Scorpions in their gallant 14-point loss to North Ballarat at Ballarat on Saturday.

"He was coming back from a knee injury and with the split round in the AFL he just wanted to play," Casey Scorpions coach Peter Banfield said.

Banfield said it was the most possessions by a Scorpion player this season, and probably for a few seasons.

"He played in the midfield and his workrate was terrific," Banfield said.

Drooooool.....

Andrew Thompson, keeping the #4 guernsey's glory alive and well...

So who comes in this week for Frase? Sweeney or Watts? Both? All this talk of Raph being dropped is starting to sound even more ridiculous if he played a blinder with Casey.

I am genuinely excited now about the possibilities of the Weagles game. Side is looking strong, players look rested, the Harvey 350th factor and his testimonial. Ooh, c'arn Sainters!!! :)

Nothing would make me excited about playing the Eagles at Subiaco with the form that we're in but I love the optimism.

I've spoken to people who don't really think Sweeney is good enough to make it AFL level but I'd be really disappointed if he wasn't given a chance. All you can do as a small/medium forward is to go out week in week out and kick goals and he's done that on a regular basis.

Personally I wouldn't play Fergus for a few more weeks. The best thing for him would be to keep playing 4 quarters of footy and build up his confidence and match fitness. He's had some dreadful luck and perhaps the disappointments will only further serve to drive him on. I suppose a case could be made for including him with the absense of Fraser but I wouldn't.

I really liked Thommo's attack on the ball against the Kangaroos and I'm rapt to see him go on with it last week. We just could with his hardness in the middle of the ground on Sunday.

I'm a bit sick of the Raph criticism as well. Injuries have prevented both he and his brother from playing regular footy. It sounds like he had a good game on the weekend and I hope we can persevere with both of them. Sometimes talent isn't enough but I'm prepared to give him longer.

Disagree. If there's one thing I've learned watching the Saints for the last 3 years it's that putting blokes into the ones gives them experience they just can't get playing at Casey - Fisher, Fisher and Gwilt spring to mind. If the boy can play, get him up. Frase may only be injured for a week, so give him the chance.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they do decide to play him on Sunday but I'd also want to see him given a real go rather than just played on and off the bench. At least with the Scorpions he'll play for most/all of the game and have the opportunity to regain the touch he would have lost over the last couple of seasons. I do want to see him in a Saints jumper at some point though.
