I'm going to do the Casey-Melbourne double tomorrow, heading to Vic Park for the 12pm start until probably 3QT when I will jump on the train to the Darklands.

Anyone else going to Collingwood first? Come say hi if so.

Well, Casey went ape shit just after I posted, kicking 5 on the trot to take an 8.6.54 to 5.5.35 lead into half time. Hogan was everywhere, clunking marks, intercepting, giving off goal assists and is on 3.3 himself for the day, with one OOTF.
Strauss has been good off half back, using his pace and getting plenty of the ball out to the sheltered northern wing here at Vic Park.
Taggert has presented well across the half forward line.
Spencer is dominant in the ruck.
McKenzie has had a bit of ball, not massive amounts though.
Tapscott, Sellar and Nicholson all not playing. Tappy a late in to AFL in fact.

Seen a few mentions on twitter about Dom Barry doing some good things. Whats your take on his game so far?

Jesse Hogan's stats for Casey Scorpions to 3/4 time: 10 marks, 19 disposals, 3 goals.

Barry could turn into a really good player for us. Obviously could use a bit more size on him, but seems to do exactly that pretty well, which is something our team lacks.

To be fair on Dom, looking at those pics there is no doubt he has put on size since the start of the year. Another preseason and a fair weight program could see him in the senior side in the first few rounds next year.

Mostly interested in Taggerts performance? Any more thoughts from anyone?

Roughead style? Wouldn't be any worse than we are already.

Before his knees got bad Jon Brown played a bit of midfield for the Lions. Twas pretty awesome.

G'day rhaz. Was named in Caseys best. Impacted the game well. According to Paul Amy, tough as and super classy by foot.

Has had a consistent injury free run and playing some good footy. Wouldn't take him too long to get his fitness back I wouldn't think as he recorded a 14.8 beep test. After today's performance v roos, I think Taggert will be in the mix v GWS.

Strauss was very good, think he finished with around 30 touches.

Hogan was a beast, was marking everything in sight, had a poor day in front of the sticks though.

Taggert was pretty good, clean, strong, good user.

Barry ran well and used it well, also pretty evasive - however he's too tentative to play in the AFL atm; he's improved significantly as a player though, I think he's got massive upside.

Spence was solid, but Gawn's holding on with that performance.

McKenzie disappointing.

Thanks for the write up Mr Puppetmaster you Toecutter.lol

Saw about 2 1/2 quarters with ThePuppetMaster yesterday before heading off to Etihad for our weekly dose of humiliation.

Casey ended up winning by 8 points, 13.12.90 to Pies 12.10.82.

To echo most of TPM's thoughts...

Hogan was huge, as above he finished BOG. He looks to be an intelligent forward, not to mention the fact that he just draws the ball to him. Played at very high intensity and just generally carved them up. Goal kicking is a slight issue but can be worked with.

Strauss did some good work off half back, surely he gets a crack next week.

Taggert looks a player, strong hands and good disposal from what I saw. Finished with 2 goals. Should come in for Kent this week I think, or Byrnes... or both.

Spencer dominated the ruck by virtue of his size. Did a bit around the ground too.

Barry is a smooth mover with a good kick, still learning the physical aspects of the game though as above - he has put a bit of size on his shoulders but his lower body is still stick-like, so his tackling is ineffective at best. Plenty to work with though.

McKenzie didn't do much again.

Magner seemed to be playing various team roles so didn't get a heap of it either.

Not much to say about Davis, Jetta or Tynan, although apparently Tynan had 25 touches. He played in the midfield mainly. Stark played too I think.
