I hate looking back. I think that's half our problem. We keep looking back trying to allocate blame. But how have we allowed our midfield to get to the state it is? Todd Viney, Tim Harrington and Jason Taylor will earn their money over the next twelve months.

Viney and Taylor might, but I wouldn't be surprised if Harrington was a guy who was moved on by Jackson at the end of the season. But whoever it is does have their work cut out for them.

Dayle Garlett kicked 6 in the WAFL today. We desperately need a crumber. Could he be the man?

I wouldn't say no, but even if he has turned things around he would still come with an element of risk.

Time to start backing ourselves in. The boy can play. He'd be grateful for the chance. We need quality on our list. Watch him closely MFC.

I don't disagree, would give us a bit of X factor which is something we so desperately need. Plus it depends on what pick we would use to select him. Clubs up the top end of the ladder will find it easier to use a late first rounder or early second rounder on him and take that punt as they have more room to get it wrong, so to speak. If we could pick him up late or even with our first PSD pick then I'd be all for it, but I doubt he would last that long.

We need to start taking risks, him at the feet of Clark, Hogan and Dawes with the ability to have a run in the midfield that is appealing.

He is a quality player, but we need the right structures in place to guide him.

Yeah I know. He may not be worth our first pick, or dare I say it, even our priority pick. He will be gone by our second rounder. It's up to our list manager to make it happen if they want him.

And I agree with all of that. The problem for us is Dayle Garlett the risk we take, or do we take a risk on someone else. Garlett brings plenty of talent with him, but also brings plenty of baggage as well. He could turn in to a champion, or be a complete bust.

So I'm with you that we need to take risks, but it's taking the right ones that are they key.

I completely agree, taking the right risks is important...There is no doubt the kid is a super talent, it is simply his attitude towards football and his lifestyle. But I guess if he didn't have his issues then he would of gone last year, I just feel he needs the opportunity to play AFL and we need some talent.

Why is he a dickhead?

He has ****ed up in the past. But we need to back our culture in to help the young man make a go of it. I've heard he is desperate for a second crack.

I've heard he has screwed up, but i have no idea what he has done. I will say Aaron Davey is an extremely good roll model off the field for young indigenous players and young players in general, never let his footy career get to his head, would be a good guy to keep around the club post retirement to help young guys like Garlett adapt to AFL life.

I'm all for giving blokes a chance. Dayle needs to get himself into a club like Geelong that has a strong culture. We as a club need to focus on establish our own culture.

Exactly. I'm not exactly sure what he has done either. But apparently there have been multiple infractions. We need A-grade talent. Look into it MFC.

If that is supposed to be what he has done wrong then draft this kid.

There has been far more too it than that. He put pictures up of himself out on the grog and smoking a few days out from the draft as well. Not surprised at all he didn't get drafted.

you think there are no players in the AFL that don't drink or smoke?

True, but they're not dumb enough to post them a few days before the draft.

Agree it's not a good look but we are talking about a 17 year old there, put him in a professional AFL club with the right role models around he would work har to live his dream, far too good of a talent

Who hasn't ****ed up at some point? A 17 year old who has been lead astray a few times? Dane Swan springs to mind.

The bombers did. And he fluffed that too.
