I would think that Taggert would get a Guernsey before Tynan.

Agree, but only because Tynan doesn't really have a position, unless they drop Clisby. Tags however played in the development league...

I reckon I will make the trip down the Monash on Sunday to have a look at the game. So keen to watch Hogan tear it up.

Anyone else going to be there? Will be happy to meet up and have a chat if so.

Go to Vic Park next week mate, then you can watch him tearing it up against the Scum at a more convenient location!

On a related note, here are the teams. Good to see Taggert back in the Seniors, who according to the Casey website have 10 different players to the team that smashed Essendon a few months back. Will be good to see Daniher play too.

Seniors V Essendon

Sunday 21st July

Casey Fields 2.00PM

B Sellar Panozza Gillies
HB Strauss Tynan Tynan
C Jetta Gent Barry
HF Tapscott Hughes Taggert
F McKenzie Hogan Davis
R Spencer Magner Nicholson
Int Nicholls McInnes Macdonald Pollard Jackson Boland Troutman Best Smith

Would be very keen for reports on Strauss, Barry, Tapscott, Taggert, McKenzie and of course Hogan. And to a lesser degree Spencer.

I've given up any hope on the rest.

I had some interest in Troy Davis until despite consistent good form as a defender they've attempted to save his career by throwing him forward which has really just made it even harder for the poor lad. In reality if they thought he was never going to make it as a defender they should've had him playing forward since preseason. Otherwise he should be at FB or CHB and Gillies can try his luck forward or in the 2's.

Remember that Casey's only forward is Hogan, maybe they needed him up there?

Not sure if it's pure love/fear from his teammates Wayne Carey style or if it's just great play reading but it seems that when I've watched Hogan he gets kicked to every single time he leads.

3.3 to 0.1 at quarter time. Panozza the captain laid a great tackle on Davey right on the siren to prevent a goal. Tapscott crumbed our third out of a pack.

Hogan hasn't seen much of it, Casey can't kick it well enough inside 50 to him.

Sellar has been good mopping up around half back.

Magner plenty of it.

Taggert had one good passage on the wing, likewise Barry who has some pace.

Gillies had one spud effort.

Spencer has his work cut out against Hille.

Jetta had a bit of it, looks lively.

I can barely type, my fingers are numb it's that cold.

Hogan is a beast, laid a huge and legal tackle and somehow copped an in the back decision.

Break in play while Hunter of Essendon gets stretchered off.

Essendon 4.6.30 to Casey 4.3.27 close to half time, should be a bigger lead as they dominated the quarter with Tappy kicking a late one after good contest from Hogan and some good run and carry to get it forward.

CAsey really struggled to get out of the backline, there must have been 10-15 out on the fulls over on the outer side already.

Davis moved back after playing forward in the first, took some good grabs. Would be a good chance to come in for Garland, Sellar the other option.

Tapscott has been really hard at it, laying some big tackles and kicking two. In for Kent?

McKenzie in and under, limited impact.

Spencer losing to Hille who is a quality player still, Hille got a soft free kick for goal though.

Daniher clunked a few and kicked one.

Strauss has taken the kick ins but I have seen SFA of him otherwise, likely delist at this stage unfortunately.

Barry has done some nice things, not a stick figure but still pretty slight.

Strauss can't get ball in the 2's? Oh boy.

Sounds like Tapscott has done well though.

Good quarter there, Casey 8.3.51 to Essendon 5.8.38 at 3qt.

Hogan finally clunked one, it hasn't been his day but he works hard and is aggressive.

Good running goal to Taggert who has shown a bit, as has Barry.

McKenzie had 2 kicks and stuffed them both.

Umpires have been poor, soft goals galore.

Dons will win by about 8 points, more later.

Cheers for the updates! How did Davis look down back in the second half? Would rather him come in for Garland then Sellar.

Also, obviously not the best day for Hogan, but how did he react? Did he completely disappear from the game or get amongst it and do the team stuff and keep putting in when things weren't going his way?

It really seems the change in coach for the MFC has upset the balance & structure of the Casey side. Players like Fitz are playing seniors now who couldn't get a game under Neeld whilst some spuds have been sent back to stink it up there.

thoughts?

Something he should probably get used to.

Where was Strauss playing? Does indeed sound like his time is up, a pretty unfortunate story (one of many) for the Dees. Barry sounds like the kind of player that might perform better at AFL level than VFL level. How was his kicking today?

Any chance of Taggert playing in the seniors this year? Or is he a candidate to be delisted?

Neeld didn't like certain players and let them know by leaving them in the reserves.

Blease and Fitz are both good AFL players who played the season in the VFL.
