It's great that there are no happy or positive outcomes or situations....because the whole galaxy is in chaos right now, so its only appropriate that everything ends in a mess, with people's lives in a mess....literally every character in the Andor series is deeply scarred if not dead

I thought it was a spy/thriller....but now I'm wondering - did I just spend three weeks watching a tragic romance?

That final shot. Wow. How can a single shot be so powerful/traumatic?

I guess it also signifies hope. Cassian's legacy, maybe even name, will live on now in that child, I'm sure Disney will eventually have something for that character in the distant future

Trauma alright; we know the outcome and that punched hard when my old brain dropped the penny

It was the perfect ending

Did like Luthen's backstory. And young Kleya could not have been more perfect.

I had him tagged as maybe a Separatist or someone who had a Jedi family member killed. But no.

The Empire was in fact - brought down by its own. From Lonni to Luthen.

Wife and I bawled at it. 14 month old asleep in the next room. Cass never meeting his son.. Ooft

Tarkin referencing multiple security breaches and Krennic saying the breaches have been filled. Excellent reference.

Was there an implication in Krennic and Partagaz's conversation that Palpatine didn't actually know about the Death Star? That Krennic had requisitioned and built the whole thing off the books? Or am I interpreting that wrong?

Feels like it adds a whole dimension to Tarkin and Vader's actions during R1.

You're picking up on a really intriguing subtext, and you're not wrong to sense some tension or ambiguity—but the implication that Palpatine didn’t know about the Death Star is not fully supported by canonical material. Let’s break it down:

In the Conversation (From Andor Season 1, Episode 10 – "The Summit")

When Krennic is mentioned and Partagaz references “Project Stardust,” there’s a layer of bureaucratic maneuvering and secrecy within the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) and other Imperial departments. It's clear that:

  • Project Stardust is being protected and obfuscated from prying eyes within the Empire.
  • There’s some compartmentalization and political wrangling over resources and information.
  • Not everyone in the Empire knows the full scope of the Death Star project, which is by design.

So, what’s actually implied?

Not that Palpatine doesn't know, but rather:

  1. The project is being kept extremely secret, even within the upper levels of the Empire.
  2. Krennic is trying to control the narrative, possibly inflating his own importance and limiting who else knows what.
  3. The ISB is aware of it at some level, but likely not privy to its ultimate goal (hence their vague references).
  4. There’s internal jockeying for power, as usual in Imperial politics—Krennic vs. Tarkin, ISB vs. Krennic, etc.

In Canon (like Rogue One and other materials):

  • Palpatine absolutely knows about the Death Star. He authorized it, and it was part of a long-term vision from the end of the Clone Wars (Revenge of the Sith shows the superstructure plans).
  • What’s more realistic is that Palpatine allows his underlings to fight over the project as a way to control them—classic Sith manipulation.

TL;DR:

You're not wrong to sense the political secrecy and tension, but no—there's no real implication that Krennic built the Death Star without Palpatine's knowledge. It’s more that many others, including perhaps some in the ISB, are in the dark or only see pieces of the puzzle. That secrecy serves the Emperor’s interests.
