Catechuchu won very nicely in Perth today, but she deserves alot of credit for her performances this season. She's a 3YO filly but has been up since August 5th, having 8 runs. She's been running in Group 1, 2, 3 and Listed company and been switching back and forth in distances. But only with her last 2 runs has she actually hit her absolute peak.

A very, very good and tough horse.

6th in the Golden Rose, ran on well in the 1500m race before the Flight after missing the start.

As I said, she deserves credit for staying up and running consistently for so long, not dissing from angry punters who've lost on her.

Yeah has been a good effort all up. Hayesy said in an interview recently how HK taught him to keep horses up for longer and to get more wins out of them. Catechuchu is a good case of a horse getting better further on into her prep.

Yeah. Most trainers keep their horses up for 4 or 5 runs, which is stupid. They think they hit their peak at their 3rd run or whatever but they don't realise how long they can stay there.

we have to remember horses are not machine's. i think 8 runs for a preparation is too much, but who am i too question david hayes.

i agree that catechuchu deserves credit as it has ran well in all three state's!! things didnt go his way in sydney (barrier draws, luck in running), his runs in melbourne were fair and he finally deserved to break through in perth.

it all depends on how tough the horse is and also how hard it is being worked, our horses dont gallop, just do beach work, which do's wonders!!
