Because Collingwood has more influence than we do, simple unfortunately. They know that the Pies are certain to pull a crowd - in spite of the fact that we've shown amply enough that we are able to do so just as well.

I cannot explain our home game versus Essendon aside from pure stupidity on the part of the AFL. We've been stiffed there, plain and simple, and I am glad the club has made some noise about it. I wonder if, when the time comes, the game will be switched? Unlikely, but it might be worth a shot.
My point is we should play Collingwood twice, will be big ratings, likely to sell out and be an exciting match.

Or do we get to smash Richmond twice again instead?

^^ agreed.

also, as the ground redevelopment continues, we'll keep increasing home game capacity, leading to higher revenues, and potentially even more home games at skilled, rather than telstra.

more revenue helps increase on field success, leading again to even more revenue. a virtuous cycle every team would dream of benefitting from.

now remember, most of the capital for this investment comes from all 3 levels of government, the afl, and only partly from the club itself, so when we complain about sort term inequities like unfavourable draws, remember that we're really being funded on a long term growth path. So, perhaps allow some room in your thinking for the short term cause of the teams that can never hope for all of this...

imagine being in north's position, and being forced to actually ***** off north..!

We should, I agree, just pointing out that I don't believe we have as much say in the matter as Collingwood might.

I guess we'll just have to keep raking in the money from Skilled to make up for it!

I would have thought that having 18 games televised on free to air makes up for missing out on a home game at the G.
It depends - if the matches are being televised from KP then yes. Signage and promotional opportunities come our way. If the matches are at the G or TD, then we don't get that revenue source.
