Apologies if it has already been done but i just thought i'd ask cats fans if they thought the QF was our best performance of the year.

i would have to say it was. Smashed them into the clearances largely due to the Ottens/Blake ruck combo. Jimmy Bartel, Joel Selwood, Max Rooke were hard and couragious around the packs. Forwards were exceptional, so many options Chappy, Nate and Moon obviously the best. Defense even better. No signs of missing Egan with the likes of Scarlett, Milburn, Harley and others like Hunt, Enright, Corey all getting back when needed.
Wojcinski and Kelly played their best games of the year Wojcinski continues to be daring and exciting with his run and a bloke by the name of G.Ablett wasn't half bad either. They linked up superbly and i thought the passage that ended up in a steve johnson goal during the third term was the play of the day.

Other games that may have come into contention i thoughts were:

R16 v Western Bulldogs, overwhelmed by that start. exceptional.

R6 v Richmond, obvious reasons, 35.12 - 9.11.

R11 v Adelaide, 4 quarter effort against a good side infront of a hostile crowd.

R9 v Port Adelaide. Power fans seemed to have forgotten what a full strength Geelong team can do to them.

Very even performance - few mistakes. Pathetic effort from many Roos players like Brown - the "danger men" - Harvey and McIntosh were mice - because of our pressure. One of the most thrilling Geelong wins I've been to in 50 years! And yes- the next two will need to be as good. No reason why they shouldn't be.

Found this old thread of mine. i think my above comment is relevant to Port fans.
I think the Grand Final takes the cake at number 1 performance for the year.:thumbsu:

My top 5 performances for the year would be:

- Grand final
- Qualifying final
- Round 16 vs Western Bulldogs - first half was breathtakingly awesome. Some of the best football I've ever seen.
- Round 13 vs Sydney - Pure guts and willingness to get up off the mat and succeed after being battered from pillar to post for three quarters.
- Round 9 vs Port Adelaide - Blew them off the park early and coasted home.

I liked the Round seven match against a previously undefeated West Coast.

Stood up to them in the first quarter, got a decent lead, they tried to come
back like last year and then we ran away it with. Gutsey!

I know against Richmond we tore them a new one but I think the win over
West Coast was the start of our premiership:thumbsu:

1. Round 9 vs. Port at AAMI: Awesome first half silenced the ferals. Beautiful.
2. The match against Sydney when we smashed the Swines and hung on when we ran out of troops...precisley what we didn't do a couple of years earlier
3. The first final against North. Unlike the Granny, North showed something early.

regards,

REB

i have to say the 157 point thumping of Richmond.

It was a season defying moment, Chappy let a few things go during the week after the two losses and things never went backwards, the boys put in a full four quarter performance and never dropped off like the 'old' geelong would have.

I thought the best comment was when Bomber said something to the tune of "we promised that we would never let ourselves or our supporters down again" - so far so good on that little promise!
