Last year I was whinging after every loss that we just needed a midfielder who could get 30 touches a game. Now we have two.Wonder when the last time we had back-to-back 40 possession games was.

Wow. The only time we've been outscored was the Brisbane game. That was early in the season on a very warm, wet night where Brisbane looked like they would smash all comers. (Also the only game I've been to this year. Sorry about that.)Have to love how we've been running out games well in the last quarter this season:
Round 1 - 10.3 to 1.0
Round 2 - 4.4 to 1.2
Round 3 - 2.1 to 3.3
Round 4 - 4.2 to 0.3
Round 5 - 5.3 to 1.0
Round 6 - 2.2 to 2.1
Round 7 - 4.0 to 2.2
Round 8 - 4.3 to 2.5
Round 9 - 3.5 to 3.2
Round 10 - 7.4 to 1.0
Round 11 - 4.2 to 3.4
Round 12 - 7.5 to 2.3
Round 13 - 3.0 to 1.4
Round 14 - 7.5 to 0.1
All up, over the season thus far we've scored 66.39.435 to 22.30.152 in last quarters.
Interestingly, in 2022 we blew out teams in the last term too (outscored sides 611 to 378 in last quarters over the season, including finals).
Such a beautiful kick and a good mark.Yeah, I reckon he'd be happy with where he's landed. And you can already see him starting to do some unique and special things.
He can play back, middle, and forward. And he reads the game very well and is a really good kick. I reckon he'll be wanting to get some games under his belt to build his match fitness and confidence in his body. Tracking well.
John Fox, I recall a piece in the book 'Cats Tales' by Col Hutchinson doing just that, and being pinged for running too far.We had one bloke play for Geelong I think his surname was Scott? with a rugby league background first touch put the ball under his arm and set sail from the wing towards goal now that was funny.I'm thinking 60s possibly 70s as a time frame.Very short career.
Loved that shepherd too, I feel like it’s a massively under-utilised part of the game.Such a beautiful kick and a good mark.
Ahead of Bews now.

Our Swiss army knife!Blicavs
Pretty sure that was for publicity.Felicity Kennett?
Was #1 Lady for GFC, but also supported Hawks with Jeff
Haven't seen this mentioned but may have been. After Close won a holding the ball free kick about 40m out (think he tackled Setterfield?) it looked like Smith moved to go rub it in to the Bomber and Atkins stepped in and stopped him. They both seemed to have a laugh about it - bit of leadership from Atkins and maybe a sign that Smith is maturing.
That 50 was a joke and the ump on review will probably be embarrassedSpeaking of which, there was no such maturity shown by the Bombers when Neale was penalized with that soft as butter 50m penalty - two Bombers remonstrated with him afterwards, including McGrath who is experienced enough to know better.
Was also embarrassing to see the Bombers player bring out the bow and arrow celebration after kicking the goal when his side was 6 goals down. Compare that to us, where probably the most animated celebration we had was a fist pump before acknowledging teammates.
This.34. Oisin Mullin - I think he was on Merrett most of the day and got handily beaten, and utterly munged a lot of his disposals as well. Have noticed though that he reads the ball very well in the air and with his pace can pick off a lot of hack kicks, from both teams. One day he'll be able to turn that into a weapon for us, but that day has not come yet.
One Turnover today from a poorly executed kick, 77% disposals efficiency. Slightly down on his 81% season average but take the point his kicks aren’t the most penetrating. Unless you look at the kick to Lawson for his goal. Utterly munged is 10 turnovers from one of our best - Bailey. 58% disposal efficiency.

Yep, and whatever it was that Guelfi did after he kicked a regulation set shot to get them within... 6 goals.Speaking of which, there was no such maturity shown by the Bombers when Neale was penalized with that soft as butter 50m penalty - two Bombers remonstrated with him afterwards, including McGrath who is experienced enough to know better.

JCWho would make the greatest difference in the event of injury?
Yep that's him FoxJohn Fox, I recall a piece in the book 'Cats Tales' by Col Hutchinson doing just that, and being pinged for running too far.
Speaking of that great book by Col, who now must be in his 80's, it was released after the 1983 season. It's in a way like the Old Testament, as it pre-dates the arrival of Gary Sr to the club. Just about all the records and features that were highlights of the stats of that book have been smashed in the 40-odd seasons since. As a 15 y/o in 1983, I'm pretty blessed to have seen the amazing highlights and successes of the GFC since then. Would love a sequel to be written, maybe Col can have a successor help co-opt a modern addendum to that book.
He did come back on.I went back and watched the replay to see if I could notice anything.
He was on the ground doing his bit moving in a defensive zone (and looking fine) when the Dons turned it over and Mannagh goaled with 7:02 left on the clock.
From what I could tell, he wasn't on the ground after that moment.
Hoping he just came off for a normal rotation and was told to put his feet up for the rest of the game.
Maybe not much point putting him back out there for a nothing last 2 or 3 minutes.
Did anyone notice anything worrying live watching at the game whilst he was on the bench that the telecast didn't show?
P.S. Went back a further minute to see him sprinting fine at the 8:07 mark... nothing he did between that time and him coming off looked sus at all... he just didn't come back on after going to the bench for the last 7mins.
Yes. 1878,79,1880,82,83,84 and 1886. It then took until 1925 to win our 8th.We dominated the 1880s if you want to go back far enough!
Didn’t realise you were still a youngster.John Fox, I recall a piece in the book 'Cats Tales' by Col Hutchinson doing just that, and being pinged for running too far.
