I've generally been a defender of Mullin, I just don't think he had that great a game yesterday is all.
You’re entitled to your opinion, even if I disagree 😉

It was your reasoning that was unreasonable IMO, especially the “utterly munged” disposals. He may have munged one or two, but nailed more than he missed. Credit where credit is due.

Didn’t realise you were still a youngster.

Sounds like a job for Stephen Wells
Young and 57 sounds funny in the same sentence . But certainly can't complain about our lot as Cats fans. Seeing both Gary Abletts careers in their entirety as well as all the high scores, huge wins, four Flags, what more could you want? And our best footy is like the footy they must play in heaven, any wonder we do play the game as it should be played!

Stengle deserves some love. He’s been working hard all year.
He’s in brilliant form at the moment, his best form since 2022.

Yes. For a while there he was working hard and not getting much reward, but in the last month or so his efforts have definitely begun to show on the stat sheet.

I thought yesterday was a good learning lesson for him in a day where the result was done and dusted. Merrett ran off him a lot, Merrett often got him into traffic and lost him and at one point it lead to Mullin giving a dirty push in the back when the ball was gone for a downfield FK and goal.

Wasn't a good game as a tagger yesterday but at least he got a good football lesson from one of the best mids in the game and I am happy it happened in a nothing match rather than a final.

Haven't seen this mentioned but may have been. After Close won a holding the ball free kick about 40m out (think he tackled Setterfield?) it looked like Smith moved to go rub it in to the Bomber and Atkins stepped in and stopped him. They both seemed to have a laugh about it - bit of leadership from Atkins and maybe a sign that Smith is maturing.

It would be nice, but no, he stays himself. Have a look at Bailey when he's signing kids stuff on the fence. One cheeky little bugger has a whinge because he was next, or just because..you know, it's a show off age. My lip reading skills are pretty good, they have to be. Suffice to say I laughed (at what I'm sure he said to the kid) as he good-naturedly took the phone and consequent selfie with him.

Q2 passage of play following tackle on Mannagh, where he went over the line into the trolley. . .
Atkins to Stanley to Merritt, who was tackled by Mannagh. Then there’s a balls up (my elderly Mum’s term, with giggling + clutching of pearls), followed by another. Bombers fluff around a few handballs

Stanley gains possession HB to Miers
HB to Holmes (we play so well when we have a Max 💙 in the team)
Baz running along side
MaxLenka moment 😻😻

Baz HB to Close, HB return to Baz
HB to Jezza, who just missed
Contest
Dempsey soccered to Jezza, well shepherded by MOC + Jezza missed a goal sadly 😿

My point is, team cohesion has improved dramatically. Yes, MaxLenka are superb. Still, many players are hitting their groove.

Martin has glided gracefully into the team. You’ve probably already discussed it.

During post game interview, Max was razzing Baz. When Baz had finished playing Max was a few disposals ahead. Said Baz dashed on to the field to beat him 😹

Speaking of which, there was no such maturity shown by the Bombers when Neale was penalized with that soft as butter 50m penalty - two Bombers remonstrated with him afterwards, including McGrath who is experienced enough to know better.

Was also embarrassing to see the Bombers player bring out the bow and arrow celebration after kicking the goal when his side was 6 goals down. Compare that to us, where probably the most animated celebration we had was a fist pump before acknowledging teammates.
Closest to a celebration was Lawson telling Zuth to get the spray tan ready

Danger has had the most goal assists today in a game since 2013 (It was actually Joel Corey vs Sydney).
Might be speculating here, let’s just say, feminine intuition 😽

Thinking there was a discussion or an agreement to share goal kicking.

When Danger was injured/managed, as a precaution, Jezza, Stengle, Neale, Dempsey + Mannagh improved.

Please be aware, I’m not blaming Danger.

This game was great to see a variety of goal kickers. With Danger kicking 2.1.

How confident do you feel when Tyson is having a set shot?
He's a freak.....

That Jack Martin shepherd for Humphries just before half.tine was clever as.

Very happy to have Jack on the park. Hope he can get some consistency

I've got confidence with Jack hanging forward occasionally, seems legit, much more than Mullen.
I love Oisin, he's dour, and mostly a good strong kick.
As long as he sticks to great tagging and keeps the hell away from the forward line. Awkward.
Fair enough if he has to follow his man, but horses for courses pls.

What’s not to love about this team? Style, speed and hardness. The young kids are really starting to shine.

Dunstall defended Essendon’s young team, explaining Geelong was experienced, older,
professional + elite.

Geelong players 25 years old + younger:
Mullin 25
Smith, De Koning 24
Neale, OHenry, Holmes, Knevitt, Wiltshire 22
Dempsey, Humphries, Conway 21
Closehy, Clark 20
O’Sullivan 19

Essendon probably has a younger, less experienced team, Chief!

Put into perspective, Geelong has the elite recruiting team of ‘In Wells We Trust’ + now Mackie.

Essendon players 25 years old + younger:
Their list, as I only know a couple, who played;

Archer May 20 debuted

Are there really eleventy seven younger Essendon players?

Purely Chief having to discredit Geelong!
You won the 1989 GF build a bridge 🙄

Note: Post to compare players, who have played AFL.

He has all the attributes to an absolute elite key forward

Can take marks, excellent runner, Brilliant set shot and has a good footy brain.
Only 22 yo 😻

Bombers average age and games is around what you expect from a team in a full blown rebuild, but thats purely down to the fact that they are absolutely smashed with injuries. The amount of players they have debuted this season is telling there.

We can blood COS in a key defensive role because he has SDK, Blicavs, ZGuthrie and Stewart around him.
Meanwhile the Bombers had to go heavy for players in the midseason draft and throw them in the deep end.

Bombers relying on Caddy to carry their forwardline where as last year when Hawkins went down we still had Cameron to take the heat off Neale, as well as OHenry.

We would have still beaten a full strength bombers on Saturday but really their season is cooked due to the injuries that have hit them.

Was thinking the same before too, but thought Kolo was the only other player who could possibly come back (had forgotten about Bowes). However, the backline has been rock solid since Jack Henry and Stewart have come back so it would be difficult to squeeze him in back there.
Bruhn and Cam Guthrie out of this conversation?

Guthrie can't stay on the park, and the other bloke has more important things to worry about at the moment.

Was that meant to be a bow and arrow? I thought he was pretending to be a cow.
