I think this will be a "running joke" by the playing group at COS expense this weekI thought he was going to score a try.

I went back and watched the replay to see if I could notice anything.Did Bailey Smith twing his hamstring again just before he went to the bench?
Lawson Humphries- who the hell kicks a 55m goal on your opposite foot - get out of town
So exciting he's starting to drift forward and use his sublime disposal and footy IQ

I went back and watched the replay to see if I could notice anything.
He was on the ground doing his bit moving in a defensive zone (and looking fine) when the Dons turned it over and Mannagh goaled with 7:02 left on the clock.
From what I could tell, he wasn't on the ground after that moment.
Hoping he just came off for a normal rotation and was told to put his feet up for the rest of the game.
Maybe not much point putting him back out there for a nothing last 2 or 3 minutes.
Did anyone notice anything worrying live watching at the game whilst he was on the bench that the telecast didn't show?
P.S. Went back a further minute to see him sprinting fine at the 8:07 mark... nothing he did between that time and him coming off looked sus at all... he just didn't come back on after going to the bench for the last 7mins.

Our game plan is mcg based which is why K Park is not the fortress it was. He's a star , hope he never gets homesick
I think our DNA this finals series will revolve around pressure. We look uber fit and are hitting over 200 regularly now . In particular our F50 pressure is elite. Repeat stoppages in F 50 are leading to scores.
We are also scoring off turnover and getting better at going fast into F50 to let our forwards get to work with even numbers. We are so dangerous when our forwards can do their work with space around them.
We are setting up the season nicely![]()
Welcome, nice post.Hello to my arch-nemesis's supporters. I have no clue why you guys don't have player threads, so I thought I'd post this here. But Max Holmes could very well be the best running player the game has seen since Keith Greig in the 1970s.
I'm only 17 myself, but I was watching your game with my father, who is old enough to remember most of the greats of the '70s, and he said Holmes reminds him of Greig in many facets.
It pains me to compliment a Geelong player in that manner, but I also think he could well end up with a Charles Brownlow around his neck at the end of this season if he continues in this form (and Smith doesn't take too many votes).
I think that the coaches will be looking to get him confident in the body first then if he makes it that far he's a sleeper for sneaking forward and bamboozling opposition defence. They'll never see it comingI wonder what Jack Martin is thinking . Lucky? Like to be contributing more? Just stay fit and stay in this side….?
He is te type that once he feels comfortable could be a difference maker.
They won half of them before 1950.Old chap behind me remarked
We've still got 16 premierships...
My reply
Yeah that's great it will be a while until you get another one!
14 VFLThey won half of them before 1950.
What a laugh.

Why didn't i try and come here years earlier instead of wasting years at a plastic club and a cesspoolI wonder what Jack Martin is thinking . Lucky? Like to be contributing more? Just stay fit and stay in this side….?

We dominated the 1880s if you want to go back far enough! They won half of them before 1950.
What a laugh.
Felicity Kennett?Hawthorn actually.
He's a rare case though, in that he's someone who has a fondness for both clubs.
Might be the only person on the planet who's got that to his name, outside of players who have actually played for both sides.
Not sure- she had a holiday house Apollo Bay, and may have started out as a Cats fan. Unimportant anyway.Pretty sure Felicity was never a Geelong supporter. That was just a publicity stunt by Jeff to try and win votes from Geelong supporters.
Who would make the greatest difference in the event of injury? But an injury or two would change everything. A lot of our form has to do with how healthy we are at the moment.
We would love to field this 22 on Prelim Final day (and for Holmes to complete the game) and in the Grand Final. Maybe Bowes as sub for Duncan.
If that eventuates, we are going to be incredibly hard to beat on the MCG.
I doubt Collingwood have the running power to go with that side out there yesterday.
But an injury or two would change everything. A lot of our form has to do with how healthy we are at the moment.
That is all true.It was a premiership contender beating up on a VFL side. Let's be fair. Essendon didn't get thrashed because they played spiritless footy, but because they can barely field a fit and uninjured 23. The silver lining for them is getting to invest some game time into a few of their rookies.
That is all true.
But regardless of the reasons why they were shite, they were still shite. Simply not AFL standard.
Geelong did what they should have done against a substandard opposition.
It's a pretty simple principle: every possession the opposition have to take without gaining meters gives them one additional opportunity to stuff it up. Set up well upfield, across the center and wings, and they have to crab around sideways and try to pick their way through. A team like Essendon, who aren't gelling as a group yet because they're a bunch of rookies dropped into the seniors due to injuries, is especially vulnerable to this strategy.
We had one bloke play for Geelong I think his surname was Scott? with a rugby league background first touch put the ball under his arm and set sail from the wing towards goal now that was funny.I'm thinking 60s possibly 70s as a time frame.Very short career.I think this will be a "running joke" by the playing group at COS expense this week![]()
It was Danger who said that. We are all guilty of trying to compare new players with old ones we remember, even Danger, but maybe max Holmes is just Max Holmes, A grade AFL footballer, in his own right?I can't remember who said it but when he first started playing there was someone at Geelong who remarked that he was quite similar to Chris Judd in many ways. Now personally I'm not sure if he will ever quite reach the level of Judd but he's a gun and he's probably going to be a captain of the club someday.
Taller but overall body shape heading towards Gary Ablett Jnr.It was Danger who said that. We are all guilty of trying to compare new players with old ones we remember, even Danger, but maybe max Holmes is just Max Holmes, A grade AFL footballer, in his own right?
