I'm gunna tip my hat to a bloke that i have many times ripped him a new one.
Ollie HENRY.
He had an impact... Or two during the night.
Is it him coming to the realisation of what is expected from him??
Not sure.
But if he can do that and build on it to impact a game more consistently and often.
I will be a very happy man.
Kudos to Ollie.

If Duncan wasn't already staying in the team another week (he should have, body permitting), he definitely is now.

Selection should be pretty simple if Stewart is ok.

Stewart, Kolo, Miers in.
Humphries, Stanley, Wiltshire out.

He going to become a really good player imo. The patience by the club is amazing to allow players to grow.
I think we have to remember that when we recruited him he was only the Young Player of the Year in GAA. He was a youngster there, albeit playing in the county team. He is still young in absolute terms with a lot of growth ahead.
Also in GAA, while he like to run a bit with the ball, it was never with goal kick intent or even a kick to the goal kicking area, he usually dish off to Longmire's 'launch' area. As he matures, it would be an amazing weapon if he develops an attacking mindset.

Interesting that ZGuthrie was on the mark for Crisp. If you had your time again you would have either Blitz or Neale manning a kicker from 50 out, particularly late in the match. Something to think about if it ever happens again.

Not really - under the new stand rule, once a player mans the mark you can't replace who's on it

As Guthrie was the one in marking contest, he was always going to be the one standing the mark and it was going to be difficult to make a swap once that happened

It always takes me while to warm to players recruited from other clubs. As an example, as good as Isaac Smith was for us, I still feel like he is more Hawthorn than Geelong. But this new Smith has completely won me over in, what, 6 games. He is infectious, both playing wise and personality. I reckon this is rubbing off on the others too. Bailey Smith is already a bone fide Geelong man. "better than Ballarat" haha
Funny how the company man Bont took it personally… if he was honest to himself - then he’d agree - you’d want to play the Pies at the G.

His interview after the game was all class. I've never really seen him speak much in the past. He actually seems like a really good bloke. I kinda feel sorry for him if I take my Geelong hat off.

At the end of the day, he wasn't good enough to execute, so that's all that matters. It wasn't to be for him. Well done on his achievement, though. 245 games in a row is bloody incredible.
He was good enough to execute, we were dead in the water - he’s such a great finisher

However… he just didn’t have the legs.

And the reason for that was Ollie Dempsey blowing him up with his around the ground running.

I don’t think that was highlighted enough.

And Dempsey in his post game interview was bouncing around talking about how much he loved running the wide wings of the MCG 🤣🤣

Loved how Danger bullied Maynard. And Maynard complains to the umpire. He does far more aggressive things to players.
I can't recall the timeline, but Maynard was being a bit of a dick in a pile and Dangerfield bent down and whispered something in his ear. I don't think Maynard liked it.
This wasn't the Dangerfield mark. That was classic, and embarrassing for Maynard.
Also him bumping Mannagh after his goal, so typical he does that to a player smaller than him.

Paddy does not like bullies - he’s just got that look in his face.

Yes, the result doesnt change that.
Not sure what's more embarrassing.
Being proven so badly wrong within the space of an hour, or doubling down that you were right.

Cop your L and move on.

Can anyone please direct me to the 5 hours of Geelong people calling SEN and complaining about the 50 metre penalty to Mullin being 30m denying him a shot at goal
I also look forward to Daicos being fined for hitting a plyer whilst down above the shoulder - a dog act

The ground is circa 175m
the incident was circa the middle, therefore 87.5 m from goal
the man on the mark was on the 50m -

simple maths - GFC denied an easy shot at goal

I bloody hope if Stewart isn't ready or even he be better having 3 more weeks off for the best of him and for him to get back to 90% id be all in favour of him missing more games
